My tounge has this whitish sheen to it (sick fucks, don't even think about it) and there are the bumps. I don't recall eating anything especially salty.
Hydrogen Peroxide is actually a very, very weak acid, especially the diluted stuff you get over the counter. It's really not going to do any harm (I guess it could if you let your teeth soak over a weekor something crazy, but bathing your tongue for a few minutes should be fine)
It's no worse than using mouthwash. In fact, that's sometimes what it's called; a cheap man's mouthwash. You can also make toothpaste out of it
