So I have these inflamed bumps and such on my tounge. No, it's not the mumps, AIDs, Herpes, or any other sort of virus. Peeps I have talked to said either one of two things:

1) Too much sweets, especially chocolate
2) Allergic reaction--I know I have a mild allergic reaction to caffeine, because I like chocolate.

Thing is, I have some questions, because I didn't eat any chocolate, not any more than I usually do, I brush my teeth, and..yah.

Any sort of medication to stop the inflammation. It also seems than whenever these inflammations happen, there's a sort of cut on the right side of my tounge, and it hurts. My whole tounge feels painfully numb, and I want to enjoy some nice food.

Like steak and brotts. And taters. With minimal butter. But that's irrelevant.

Are they inflamed single taste buds, or larger than that? If it's just a taste bud, you'll be fine in a day or two.

I used to get those when I was younger. They'd appear on the tip of my tongue or off to the side. I would bite and scrape them on purpose because they bugged me so much, that they would start to bleed.

Gargle with warm salt water and hydrogen peroxide. Keep it in your mouth for a long time, let your tongue bathe in it.

Yeah, thanks for the advice. Don't know about the hydrogen peroxide, sounds a bit too acidic. The salt water really that good? I mean you'd assume it was because of something salty my taste buds malfunctioned. As far as I can see, there are numerous buds that have flamed up, not huge, but they're visibly different. My tounge has this whitish sheen to it (sick fucks, don't even think about it) and there are the bumps. I don't recall eating anything especially salty.

It is often caused by a cold virus. I get them, especially if I am fighting a cold. They are a pretty reliable that your body is fighting an infection even if the rest of you is feeling fine.

Interesting, that's quite possible, considering I do have a cold, but yeah, never thought of that really. It's been warm here, and maybe I wasn't drinking enough water, and such. Pisses me off though. Couldn't sleep that well, my tounge was giving me hell. It got even more dried out, felt like my mouth was made of finely sharpened sand paper. Wow. Fucking thing, makes me want to rip my tounge out.

Any sort of medication? I only have iodized salt in my cabby right now, and I don't think I want to swish hydrogen peroxide in my mouth.

yeah, it's not so much a cut, as almost a tear in the tounge I'd say, and it is uber sensitive. Thing is, it's on my right side. --___--

yeah I know. But it does. It gets me so angry, sometimes I just started brushing my tounge with toothpaste and toothbrush. It hurts, but it feels soooo crazy good at the same time. But it hurts and pisses me off.

Try switching touthpaste brands. I used to religiously use aquafresh, and then one day overnight I became alergic to it or something... I had the exact same symptoms you had, they'd go away for a few days, and then come back... swapped touthpastes and they immediately went away. A month later tried the same toothpase (bought a new tube) and the exact same thing happened again.

Well, it's not so much the toothpaste, that's fine by itself, I think there are a number of factors, having too much gingerale on Wedesnday, and then Thursday night getting a bit stressed + hay fever = inflamed tounge.

man see a freaking doctor. Having to still come here after your friends diagnosed you is a big clue in.

Most ATers could get a arm chopped off by an machete wielding psychopath and would still post to the forums looking for advice that would justify them not seeing a doctor.

I had that before, the taste bud was bigger than the other ones and white too, so i bit it off. Felt good for a little while but i think it mustve grown back again. So OP dont bite them off, they grow back
