It's 85 degrees in my bedroom and my A/C broke this afternoon. I have 2 fans on high, but they do nothing but move the hot air around.

It's too hot to sleep. Pity me, people.

Well, mine's a POS window unit that doesn't work. It's the same as having no AC. So we're in the same boat, here.

sleeping with a fan on exposed skin is a bad idea. it can stiffen the muscle for several days to weeks and can be very painful. if you must have a fan blowing on you, make sure its far away in the room and at least partially cover yourself for the moving air. ive had it stiffen the muscles in my neck twice and in my back once. the 2nd time i had to wear a neckbrace for 3 months because it made my traps as hard as piano strings and i couldnt move my head or shoulders. it royally sucked and i hope that never happens to anyone that reads this, so take note of my advice and godspeed while you are sleeping.

yes. it was partially how i was sleeping, but the constant stream of cold air blowing on my right trap caused it to stiffen very badly. i went to 2 doctors and got the same diagnosis. it took a lot of physical therapy to get it back to normal, and even today (this was 7 years ago) it hurts sometimes if my fan is blowing on my neck even a little bit. it is now prone to injury whereas before it was no more or less susceptible than anywhere else on my body. it majorly sucks and if i were you i would avoid putting your body in that situation. it wont always happen, and actually it wont even happen most of the time, but the one time it does you will be sorry.

Try sleeping in Mexico. Most people can't afford A/C and it's over 110 degrees there. Luckily, my A/C works just fine

probably 3-4 feet. i sleep on my left side and the fan was blowing on me from my back. my head was a little crooked (toward my right arm) and only my right trap was exposed (besides my head obviously, but my other shoulder was shieled by the pillow). it froze my head in that position for the next few months its kinda funny looking back on it, but people used to tap me on the shoulder so i would have to turn all the way around but then they would move. they teased the hell out of me lol.
