It is faster, but the fact is that im not even using it for 3D. And i think for 2D, they would make no difference or the X1800 XT would still be the better choice.

Man, you are hilarious.

The GTX512MB has been out for about three weeks. They sold out almost immediately (at $700+ from most stores) when they went on sale, and are nearly impossible to find right now.

So with it being sold out, and with it not being true Nvidia, i still got the best card i could possibly get.

But i think ive lost my mind. I lost completely perspective on the situation at hand.

What world are you from? If you just read some of the articles published by this website, you would know all of this information. Anandtech has a review of the 7800GTX 512 video card which has been available for almost a month and Asus P5WD2 Premium. How do you not know this when your computer expert friend and computer shop should know this?

Why would you recontact Asus when you've already been told that there is no difference but some trivial features between the premium and non-premium board and now you re-ask the question which is the better performer?

Buy a Dell b/c you don't listen and have no idea what you're doing. I still can't figure out why you would consider an Intel motherboard when you plan to overclock which the Intel board can't. Hasn't your computer expert friend or computer shop told you this? This is beyond pathetic.

go wit hthe asus board, that way you will have better performance and be able to overclock (intel locks there mobo's down to a 8-10% overclock)
or listen to the guy above and go with an ome system from dell or gateway (or get a sweet oem system from voodoo)
and sell the otehr stuff on ebay being that money isnt a problem or just buy another comp

WTF? Based on your warped logic, there is no such thing as a true Nvidia video card since they don't manufacture there own cards. Who cares if they don't manufacture their own cards? Their resources are better concentrated researching and designing new video cards than getting into the manufacturing industry. This logic is probably why you want to buy an Intel motherboard. God, I wish I was a salesman. You would listen to anything I tell you and buy it.

Why would a true ATI card be a better card than a Powercolor ATI card? If anything, 3rd parties usually make better cards b/c they'll enhance the reference design (faster memory, overclocked speeds, better coolers, better warranties, etc).

If you want the best and money is no object, you can buy a 7800GTX 512 on ebay.

The card said new Retail in box.

And i did it again, i didnt listen to you guys and got the P5WD2 Premium. I kept insisting to my buddy to get the non premium, but he insisted that its just such a better board when it only costs 40$ more (canadian). I dont need those features, but i figure who ever is going to keep my computer may as well have the luxury of using those features in the future. I think my buddy has a point on this.

So thats pretty much it now. My new rig is pretty much complete. All thats left is wether i want to overclock a little. All i need is a good cpu air cooler and im set. Going into liquid cooling and any absurdity beyond that is out of the question. And my buddy says he is a major overclocker and has tons of experience as he will do it for me and hold himself responsible for any potentially occuring damage. But thats if i decide to go ahead, and if he thinks its neccessary. So we will have the discussion tomorrow.

The only thing i know is that i am not cold with solution. I dont know if that guy was serious or just screwing with everyone.

NVidia doesn't sell their own cards... they leave that to companies that know what a goddamn warranty is. ATI tends to overcharge as well.

My system is already bought. There is no turning back. And i am using a single application. Which means there is no reason why i would take a dual core processor of any kind.

umm since ur not using it for 3D, i think even a Radeon X300 or Geforce 6200 would have suited your purpose!!

EDIT: btw you can still sell your system on ebay and use the money to buy something much better for about half the price of your current setup.

The sadder fact is not only did you go Intel but for the money spent on your cpu and video card you could have gotten faster components(Intel 670 and Nvidia 7800GTX 512) for less money. But you live in bizzaro world where lemmings still exist.
