I need to remove water from my garage floor

My garage doesn't have a drain on the floor anywhere. I park in there and then all of the snow and ice buildup melts off and it leaves me with a decent size puddle of water that I need to get rid of. I used a leaf blower and a snow shovel to get ~80% of the water out but surely there must be a better way. All that did was push the water to the end of the driveway where it will refreeze.

What are some possible options for removing the water with minimal effort? A large push broom or squeegee would probably push it out of the garage easier but I still have nowhere to move the water after that. Maybe I could just suck the puddle up with a shopvac and dup it beside the garage.

Have any of you had to deal with this before?

we always sweep with a push broom on to the side of the driveway, into the snow so that it does not ice up the drive much. Shop vac would be my second choice though.

I always just used a pushbroom while swearing that I was going to get a squeegee. We have a low spot right where we go into the house and it would puddle there quite deep. There were also some other spots that held water too. Fortunately the concrete approach to our garage is sloped and the water runs off onto the asphalt and disperses.

Now, we spend winters in Florida so it's no longer a problem.

A lot of municipalities hve outlawed drains in garage floors. The reasoning being that fumes could collect there and present an explosion hazard.

I think I'll borrow a wet/dry shopvac from a friend to see if that will do the job. If it doesn't, then I'll look into a squeegee similar to what Soulcougher linked.

I'd rather buy a shopvac if it'll do the job since it can have other uses around the house.

Shop vac should work fine and has the added benefit of being remarkably satisfying. Something slightly incongruous about vacuuming a puddle that just entertains me.

Don't forget to remove the air filter.

Meh shop vacs are messy, Not sure how much water I've sucked up with them but it's a lot. Emptying is a pain and waiting too late lets it blow dirty water out the back all over the place.

I'm in the camp of using a push broom and telling myself I'll get a squeegee someday. I'm in MN and don't have a problem w/ the water refreezing on the driveway. It heads that direction but seems to spread thin and evaporate before becoming a problem.

when I had a lot of water to remove with a shop vac I just dropped a small sump pump into the shop vac when it was full. ran the hose to wherever. emptied it in a couple minutes.

Disposing of the water from a shopvac seems like it wouldn't be a problem.

It really isn't a huge deal. For me it was just the little stuff - hauling a vac with wet wheels to a sink (I don't have one in my garage), finding a place to set down the wet top after it's removed, sometimes splashing dirty water on the wall... If you need to do it very often it just gets to be a pain in the ass after a while. The sump pump idea is pretty good, simply dumping it in the yard would help too if you don't mind that.
