I need whiter teeth

I got a list of things I need to improve about myself and I want to start working on this

My teeth aren't horrible, but they are definitely not wwwhite. I brush my teeth when I wake up and before I go to bed. On Mon/Weds/Thurs, I brush them an extra time. I think I use "pro health" toothpaste.

I bought "equaline advanced whitening wraps" at the grocery store yesterday and used them today. I looked for the Crest strips, but the store didn't sell them. Anyone use these before? Are they good?

What type of toothpaste should I use?

Anything else I should do? I don't floss currently, would this help? Whitening mouth wash?

I don't care how sensitive my teeth may get from the strips/paste - I'm a tough guy.

I've used Crest White strips and they worked really well. Made my teeth noticeably whiter. The only downside was that while using them they got very sensitive. Don't know if that happens with the new ones though. To me it was worth it.

Obviously not smoking, drinking coffee, or drinking dark sodas will keep them from getting yellow.

Get them professionally whitened at a dentist? :awe: Or have them make custom trays for your teeth and then you can use the stuff at your home? :awe:

I'm going to go with one of the above methods when I have the dough...

I have horrible yellow teeth. It's so bad I try not to smile or laugh when I'm with people. I was considering buying the white strips, but I think having the dentist do it would be best for me. I have no idea how much it costs though.

Buy a mouth guard football players use at your local sports store. Get this, same stuff Dentists use. Whiten teeth at fraction of the cost.

I paid $260 or something some years ago for molds from the dentist and the gel. It's a million times better than drug store crap, don't bother with that stuff. And toothpaste will do almost nothing. Get the proper whitening. You don't need to go heavy but it is a very cheap way to have a much better smile. I'm surprised how many adults have nasty yellow teeth considering how simple it is to fix it and seemingly safe. Go with the molds, cannot recommend highly enough. I touch up every 6-12 months now with gel from ebay, it's nearly free.

I've used Crest White strips. I went through two boxes over the course of a month, and it made one "hella"va difference.

I'd suggest taking the buckshot approach and just using crest white strips once a day until your teeth are as white as you want them. Might take a month though. If you don't want to wait, go to a dentist, get an initial treatment, and then use crest white strips to make it even better.

But crest white strips do work, rather well.

Also, I use them a few nights in a row once a month. It helps keep them white.

Bump because I want more info. I'm thinking of going to the dentist to get mine done. Mine are getting pretty fugly... They're better than what they were. :awe: But they still have a long way to go. :/ (Note that photo was from April 2009... About a year ago. My teeth are darker to me now)

Screw the crest and those other whitening strips or kits you buy from the store. I think the highest peroxide content in those is 19%. This stuff is 35%!

It worked really well for me and i smoke and dip. When i went to the dental lab i had the whitest "natural" teeth on their color chart. I say "natural" white because "Hollywood" white is unnatural. At least that's what they told me.

A whitening kit from my dentist was $90 and i believe it was 40% peroxide.

Professional whitening from a dentist is really expensive (at least $300/visit) and you have to go a few times.

EDIT: Why the hell do i keep getting dynamitedata.com added to my link?? Even when i go to edit, it's added and it adds itself again even if i try to remove it. Is this something new added to anandtech?
