Let me get this straight. I am scared, but not to the point of hiding in my bedroom. I have never been really scared at all before, but now I am.

Who isn't?

1. Anthrax
2. Osama Bin Laden and Al-Queda
3. Another terrorist attack

Is anyone scared about what is going to happen?

Nobody can really blame you for being scared. This is a weird time for the entire world as far as I'm concerned.

Your kids will be reading about this in the their history books. Reality smack and a half.

I've been giving this situation a lot of thought. It seems to me that whoever planned this attack would have know it would lead to the US striking out at suspected terrorists groups. So it really would'nt surpise me to hear about some terrorist retaliation being taken.

Indeed. Those terrorists already knew that the US would attack, they are hardly upset now. Probably they're right on schedule at this moment and are ready to launch their next attack(s).

I doubt their next attacks could consist of anything more than a few suicide bombers in shopping malls. There will not be a repeat of the WTC/Pentagon tragedy any time in the near future, I assure you.

So quit worrying!

Well, I live in London, a couple of miles from the centre. I think I've probably got as much reason to be scared as anyone here

Yep, and I could get hit by a car while crossing the street! Everyday life simply involves risk. Face it, and be a man about it!

Precisely. Much of the other world has known suck things. Those in the UK have had terrorist attacks from the IRA for years. Other countries have often had crap going on that is even worse.

I am not really scared so much as "concerned". I am concerned about what will happen. You must keep it in perspective however. About 1/50,000 of the US population was killed on Sept 11. This number indicates that your chances of being the victim of a terrorist attack are exceptionally low if another occurs of the same size, and I hope and believe that the next attack(s) that are likely to take place will be less destructive than the first.

I'm dissapointed in the inevitability of this being so long term. Unfortunately even if Bin laden and his cronies are taken out of power none of us can be as secure as we once thought we were. I'm also concerned that I hear so many breaches of security at airports, usually by people who seemingly didn't even attend to breach security. It seems painfully obvious that security is still inadequate and I hope it doesn't take another strike for it to get to where it has to be.

There will not be a repeat of the WTC/Pentagon tragedy any time in the near future, I assure you

Thats highly doubtful and just wishful thinking IMO. We'd be fools to underestimate what these scum are capable of. Bombs in malls is "old hat". Sure we may see that, but I will be absolutely not surprised if we see another attack of epic proportions again. There are simply too many indefensible targets

Yep, thankfully antrhax is not contagious. Sucks if you're the direct recipient but unlike smallpox a nation-wide epidemic won't kill off 5 million of us in 6 months like a smallpox outbreak could do.

Yup, I just checked the dictionary. I was wrong about it being a virus, by the way. Sorry, it won't happen again

I could be wrong (and I certaintly hope so) but I'm thinking that whatever these terrorists have planned is already in place just waiting to be executed. Right now security has been tightened up all over the United States, certain buildings and all airports are being heavily scrutinized. But has it ever occured to anyone that explosives could have been placed in certain targets ahead of time? Also with the holiday season just around the corner its very like that shopping malls and other places that draw large crowds during this time of the year would be a likely place for an attack.

Its unsettling to think about what could happen over the next few weeks

You can't live your life scared and hiding in some shelter or something. That is exactly what the terroists want and by doing that you are letting them win.

1. Anthrax? Not really worried about it since it's not that easy to build a bio weapon and use it effectively. I saw an interview witha guy from the CDC over the weekend saying that once it's in the air it begins to disperse so quickly that it is only effective in a very close range and for only a minute or two.

2. Bin Laden? Not worried at all....he will be running for his life from now until he's taking a dirt nap. I just hope Marine Force Recon, the SEALS, or Green Berets gut him when they catch him.

3. Another terrorists attack? Yep...one will probably happen but again we can't live in fear.

Am I the only one on here that lived during the cold war? The threat of nukes dropping out of the sky scared me a helluva lot more than this current situation.
