Ya, BTC drives are craptastic. extremely high failure rate, (gal at staples said that they had a very high return rate on the I/O Magic drives, and Fry's, if you go to buy a BTC drive, and the sales person helping you is half worth a crap, will turn you away from the drive real quick) and the one drive that I had roached about 75% of the media that I threw at it. If you're wanting a cheap drive, get the NEC 3500 from Newegg for $70 shipped, and you won't need to worry about anything else. Your best bet is to stay away from likey-looky crap, and buy a name brand drive, ie, NEC, Sony, Pioneer, Plextor, and you won't have any issues.
