I omega USB Zip 100 Drive

Hi,
I wanted to buy a USB zip100 drive which is $49.99 at CompUSA. Read at one of the forums that we can pm at Staples and get it for less. But the problem is our local Stapes does not have one. So i like to know how good this product and is it worth for the price.

I have another question i am not sure if i can post in this disucssion. I have a Sony 12X/8X/32X Cd writer. I guess this burns only couple of cds for instance i tried with Dr.Data and it came with errors - bad sectors. But with the std sony cd it was breeze through. I also like to know whatz the difference between the cds I mean what happens if i buy all imation cds/ verbatim whatz the difference is there anything to do with their life?

If someone could help me in this regard. would be great.

If you need a Zip drive, $50 is a great price. Where did you see you can PM for a lower price than $50? I would think that I'd have heard of that that

Regarding your burner, it sounds like you just got a bad batch of CDRs from some no-name company. Pick up another pack from a well-known manufacturer (Imation, TDK, Memorex, Verbatim, etc) and see if that solves your problems. I don't think shelf-life varies greatly between CDRs. There was a rumor that one color was "better" than another, but there's been no way to test it since they haven't been out for 10-15 years (which is their shelf-life IIRC).

The zip drive is worth the $50. Unfortunately the sale ended two days ago. The compusa by work finally got one in yesterday but when we rang it up, it only showed at the $100 and that's when I noticed it was only a 3 days sale. Funny how they never seem to have them when they are on sale but the day after, they show up.

Regarding the cds, there are cheap ones that don't burn as well. One thing you could try to do is have your burner use a slower speed. Sometimes burners don't always work consistantly with cheapo cds at its highest rated value.
