I-Opener refurbs for $199 + shipping

I don't know if the current versions are still hackable, but you can get a refurb for $199 with no long term commitment (plus shipping). Possible hot deal for those who weren't able to get one before the price change.

There are no long term commitments or contracts when purchasing the i-opener 2001 membership Program. You are simply agreeing to the purchase price of the i-opener, the monthly fee of $21.95, and agree to the terms of the i-opener membership agreement, which contain no long-term commitments."

It says you are agreeing to the $21.95, but don't have to pay it for any amount of time. Worst case I think they will get you for the first month, but I'm not positive because "You have thirty (30) days to dispute a charge posted to your account; otherwise you agree that (1) the charge is valid; and (2) no refund or adjustment will be given."

I'm not really sure that agreement applies any longer.

Netpliance issued a statement not too long ago about shutting down their in-house ISP services, at the time it said that the ISP requirement/agreement was null and void.

So you may have it free and clear, once you purchase it.

if i remember correctly Netpliance (creator of I-Opener) went under, or at least stopped production of the I-Opener, i expect the prices on these to drop tremendously.
