What if someone finds your deposit on the boat and takes it? What if it gets rained on? I would place my deposit in a bank or something.

Is it removable/detachable? I'm not sure if you plan on trailering the boat a lot, but scratching that tower on low hanging branches would concern me. Also, lower bridges might be a problem as well.

Either way, congrats on the purchase! While water testing, get the swim deck wet and see how slippery it is. I've seen a LOT of people slip on those, but they tend to be drunk when it happens...

Its a power tower. Lowers and raises at the push of a button. Very easy.

I ordered the boat with seadek on the swim platform. Provides a nice non skid surface even when wet.

I have a lot of connections with Regal (I know the owners and my wife worked there for 21 years). If you have any issues, pm me and I will be happy to help you out.

GL with your new boat.

Can you get me better than boat show pricing? Just kidding. And thanks for the offer.

I should buy a boat. But I'd want to own my own cottage for that where I can launch it from my own shore. I should buy a cottage.

Understandable. I wouldnt buy a boat if I had to trailer it all the time. We have a three season camp with water access. So we will put the boat in in may and take it out in october.

Very nice. I have a '98 Regal 2100LSR with the Fastrac hull. It does seem to improve fuel economy and allow for quicker planing than similar boats I've piloted. I will say that I hope gas remains cheap for you, because if you're running it every weekend it really adds up. You can burn 30 gallons a day (or more) in a day if you're pulling skiers and such for hours on end.

If she still worked there I probably could have swung a better deal for you. She left a while back though.

Are you buying existing dealer stock or having one built to order? If it's built to order, best of luck to you. Regal makes some quality boats but their production lines frequently encounter...delays.

If it floats, flies or fucks you are way cheaper renting. Just thought I'd try and help, otherwise enjoy the hell out of it!

Dammit! You need to tell her to get her job back. If only for long enough to help me take advantage of the employee discount

Built to order - there is very little existing stock for this boat as it is a new model for 2016. The dealer I am working with said that they hope to receive the boat in mid/late April - but as you said we shall see. Doesn't matter too much to me. As long as it comes in by early June I will be happy, as that is when boating season really starts up here. It would be best if the boat came in earlier though, because it would still give me plenty of time to locate another (likely used) boat if the water test does not go well.

Yes, but being fiscally smart is not always the only course, or even the best course. If it was no one would buy any depreciating asset (car, boat, etc.) new, and where would that leave us?

Sometimes it is ok to make a purchase decision as an investment in experiences, and not necessarily on returns. I have been fortunate (very fortunate) to have made some good financial decisions early on in my life, which means that every now and then I get to put aside my financial senses and just have some fun. Now is one of those times. This purchase decision is not going to affect my fiscal situation (day to day, near term, or retirement) in any meaningful way. If it would I certainly wouldn't be buying the boat.

Yeah I know gas can get pricey for these toys. I'm hoping it won't be too bad. I expect that we will spend a ton of time on the boat, but we usually don't tube/ski for hours and hours on end. There are days where that happens, but 50% of the time we usually just cruise out to a nice spot on the lake, anchor, and have a blast swimming, barbecuing, etc.

Put a deposit on a boat today! Regal Fasdeck 22. Everything is subject to a water test (i.e., I can get my money back if I don't like the boat for any reason) so I still might go another way, but I was excited to have the opportunity to spec out the boat so that it arrives with exactly what I want. It is going to be a fun spring/summer/fall.

Interesting... but if you don't like money so much you should send it to me... i'll send you a gold-star sticker saying "sexy-powerfull-rich*

Beautiful boat. The rear-facing seat in the back is interesting. Do you have any experience with that sort of layout? I'm just used to a big flat padded engine cover, which is useful for the ladies to be able to lay out completely while tanning.
Make sure it has good storage for bulky stuff like boat fenders (I call them bumpers, but Google corrected me).

I'll check into the likelihood of you getting a decent delivery time for that product line and pm you with what I find out. Knowing Regal, expecting a delivery for a new product line, even a few months later than promised, might be a bit optimistic.

If you can be patient they do produce a high quality product though.

Thanks!

My wife and I have spent a bunch of time on a variety of lake boats and we decided that we wanted a boat with stern seating instead of a sun pad for for a number of reasons.

First, we spend a lot of time hanging around at anchor, e.g., at a sand bar, one of the islands in our lake, etc., and often times one of us ends up sitting on the stern of the boat talking to folks.

Second - A friend of mine owns a 24 foot yamaha jet boat, which IMO has the best stern of any small lake boat on the market. Everytime we are on his boat we end up hanging out on the stern, as it is just fun to be back there. It also makes getting into and out of the water easier, and provides a nice place for people who are going to ski, tube, etc. to get ready.

Last - neither my wife nor I like to sunbathe. That said, we do have that option anyway as there is a filler cushion for the bow that will allow all but the very tallest passengers to lay out fully.

As for storage - I'm sure we will fill it up but this boat has a lot of storage for its size. It has much more than a similar sized bowrider, due primarily to the fact that it uses a far deeper/taller hull design which allows all under seat storage to be about 1.5-2x as deep as the same storage locations in a bowrider. There is also quite a bit of storage under the helm, and if necessary the built in head under on the passenger's side can double as a big storage locker. It even has dedicated storage locations for a cooler and trashcan.

Thanks, much appreciated. I'm willing to wait for a quality product, but it would be really disappointing if the boat was delayed far into the boating season.

No. I'm debating on whether to order a trailer or not. The dealer I am working with is located on my lake, so I am contemplating going without the trailer and just having them take the boat out in the fall, store it, and launch it in the spring.

get a couple of good brushes to scrub down your hull as the season goes on .Marine growth on the hull will cut into your speed and gph , unless you have a lift .

Yeah I'm pretty familiar with that issue. My jet ski lost 8 MPH due to growth on the hull over the course of a season. Pretty surprising how much that goop can affect top speed.

I used to own a large party barge that sat in a boat slip . We would take it out , go about 5 miles to a large lake and party on the sand bars . It would take me about 30 min. to scrub down the pontoons ,IF I stayed on top of it . Let it go a few months and that stuff was brutal . Brought it home a time or two and pressure washed it . That was the ticket .

If I lived closer to a really large body of water, I'd probably get a cabin/cottage next to it and have a boat. I'd want one of those wooden cigar boats.

Looks like fun. What do you tow it with?
