congrats.. very nice boat. been a long time since I had mine. (21ft monterrey late 80's thru early 90's. ) Back then I was told the volvo-penta duoprop didn't have a good reputation compared to the mercrusier. Has it changed?

If I lived closer to a really large body of water, I'd probably get a cabin/cottage next to it and have a boat. I'd want one of those wooden cigar boats.

Not sure he's going to even get a trailer as it sits on the lake when in use, so... who knows, but he isn't going to be trailering it much if at all.

Its changed. Both drivetrains have had their ups and downs, but they are both pretty reliable now.

I have an older f150 that could tow it, but as already mentioned I am probably not going to trailer it at all.

I read the title as "I ordered a goat today", and I was disappointed when I actually read the thing correctly. I was thinking about Kebabs or maybe having a loyal pet goat that followed you around, but, a boat should be good fun.

Think about in and out service with the marina if they offer it. Keeps the boat nice and clean since it is only in the water when you are using it. I do that with my boat. Call about 30 minutes ahead and it is in the water when I get there. Done at the end of the day, tie up at their slip and they haul it out and store it in one of their inside racks out of the weather.

I could certainly do that but it would be a PITA to be honest. The marina is at the other end of the lake, which means that to get to the boat I would have to drive all the way down there. Then drive it around, then back to the marina. Then drive all the way back to our camp. If I leave it in the slip I can walk 5 minutes down to the dock, and 5 minutes later be out on the water with any gear etc. we might need. Then we come back to the camp, dock, and are off doing whatever in no time. For me that convenience far outweighs any inconvenience associated with scrubbing the boat every now and then.

I'm getting ready to buy another one. Had an 07 Bryant 219 I ordered new. Got rid of it when the economy went south in 09.

That was a bad day.

Won't buy new again. I was a bit leery to buy used for my first one, but feel comfortable with it now.

Looking for a 20-23' bowrider. V-8, preferably injected. Can't wait to get back on the water.
