I ordered my system upgrade

As of a few minutes ago, I bought a Sempron 64 2800+ and Epox EP-8KDA3J for $144.89, shipped. Hopefully I can overclock it to ~2.1 GHz on stock cooling.

I'm still trying to sell my HP Pavilion 734n. It has an integrated FSB266 socket A motherboard and Athlon XP 2400+. The motherboard includes a legal copy of Windows XP. Those interested in buying the board & OS can go here. If anyone wants, I'll sell the board, OS, CPU, case, FDD & 512 MB DDR SDRAM for $175, shipped.

So, I'm basically moving from an Athlon XP 2400+ with 1 GB DDR266 to a Sempron 64 2800+ with 512 MB DDR400. I wonder which will run audio/video editing faster. Has anyone seen Sempron 64 2800+ benchmarks? I haven't been able to find them.

Anyway, I'm pretty excited about my new purchase, hence the thread. Wish me luck!

I'm pretty sure you can get above 2.1... You should try to aim for 2.2-2.4 Anything above that is just gravy .

I thought legally you cannot resale a license for XP. I've heard of local business' gettin trouble for that.

I'm including the official installation CD-ROMs as well as the motherboard. I don't see any problem.

That's what they say, but I'm trying not to expect too much. The fact is, I'm buying a 1.6 GHz processor. Sure, I spent $25 extra for an overclocking motherboard, but I still can't expect more than I pay for. The 64-bit Semprons remain largely untested. Even the 32-bit 2800+ is a bit of a mystery. It's the 128-KB-cached 2600+ which has the highest overclocking potential. I can only hope this new Sempron 64 2800+ works as well.

I guess I'll post my own Sempron 64 2800+ experiences, if nobody has any right now.
