I quit my job today!

I've been a server at Cracker Barrel for a little over a year now, and I've hated every minute of it. I only made $35 working from 4 - 11:30 last night, and it has been like that ever since school started (less travelers, and they tip the best). I put in my two week notice yesterday, and I was supposed to be up there at 4 today, but I decided I really don't feel like showing up so I said fvck it and called them and told them I'm not coming back. I feel great though!

Not a problem... they either have someone on call or they will divide your section up and other servers will get more tables and make more money. Not showing up at all is not good for a reference though.

I hated to just quit on them, and there goes my reference, but damn I hated that job and it feels so GREAT to be done with it. Plus I am looking for part time work right now and I never plan on being a server again so hopefully this won't affect me too much. My grades are pretty low, I am in the process of kicking a drug habit, I just got diagnosed with depression, and they had me working every day next week when I had 2 tests and a fairly large project due so I said fvck it I'm gone.

Man quitting a crappy job is the best!

I had a vacation saved up, so am I still allowed to collect that? A friend of mine I believe got his and he was fired, but I'm not sure if I can because I quit. I did actually call up there like 30 mins in advance and told them not to expect me to come in anymore, so it wasn't a total surprise!

That place loses servers just about every other day though. They literally overstaff us because they are not sure who is gonna quit that day, it's ridiculous.

I'm not sure, but can employers deny that because you didn't give 2 weeks notice, and in your case, gave and just failed to show up anyway?

nope, you quit - and you probably lost any leeway you'd get with them by not showing up.

still, i know how good it feels...i remember my last day waiting tables and how i literally ran to my truck yelling at the top of my lungs about freedom and other such shit.

Waiters/Waitresses get something like $2-$3 an hour plus tips. That's why tipping is important to them.

I would have had a great recommendation from them as well (believe it or not I am a pretty hard worker ), so that's the only thing I kinda regret. Should I even be too worried about this? Once I graduate and try to get a real job will my future employer bother to check and see how I did at Cracker Barrel?
