Keep cigs (and butts!) away, chew gum or candy, and just try to stay otherwise occupied.
It can be done, lots of people do it!

The first day, I went on a cleaning spree... Cleaned the kitchen, organized my main room, cleaned the bathroom, vacuumed, did everything except my bedroom...

Today I went on the bike ride, did homework, played video games, and just kept my mind off of it as much as I could... I think tomorrow I am going to inflate my bike tires (they were low today) and go for like a 2 hour bike ride if i can figure out a 2 hour route... todays was only 2 miles, and I hauled ass and it only took like 10 minutes... lol... of course I have no idea, because I walked to my bike (12 minutes) came back, tightened my left side pedal, and then took off... so the true bike ride I have no idea on how long it took... I know i went like half the distance I walked with a female friend and her dog the other day... but that took an hour... lol

Hi MikeMike,

It's gonna be a tough road to quitting smoking, but if you set your mind to it, you can do it.

I know naturally you will fall into the mentality thinking about how shitty you feel without your fix, but you got to stick with the positives and why you are quitting. Most importantly, you need to be sure you are doing this for yourself.

Here are some info that i researched whiched helped me get through my journey to quitting:

• 2 Weeks: This is how long the physical cravings will be most severe. Make it past it things will get better.

• 3 Weeks: I read this is how long it takes the average to form any type of habbit.

• 6 Months: You will still get cravings during this time but they will mostly be psychological. You can beat it if your mind wants to.

• 5 Years: Average time for nicotine to completely leave your system. (unless you chew tobacco or hang around people that smokes).

I have quit for 2 years and things are better than ever. I feel great doing intense physical activities (gym, sports, hiking, etc), and i feel more energetic doing everyday things. Good luck you you man, don't let yourself down.

Read my posts, you'd know why I'm still here.

Yea, we all know why you are still here...for attention and to troll like normal. We all get it. You have a mental condition and you're gay....who gives a shit....I wish you the best of luck with both.

It's you who troll around in different posts sharing angst on this forum. Go Away.

I cheated. I took Chantix.

Hang in there, OP. You might not believe me now, but you'll reach a point where you won't even miss the damned things any more, even when you smell cigarette smoke.

Hang in there. It's going to be rough, but it is well worth it. Set milestones, and buy yourself little treats with the money you would have spent on your habit.

4+ months now for me. Finally, after being diagnosed with COPD 4 years ago.
Cravings, per se, stopped about 6 weeks in. But i have smoked for over 40 years, up to 3-4 packs a day at times.
OP, hang tough, Emphysema is no fun, even when you're old.
Take it from experience.
I still get around, but it sucks when you run out of breath after 10-15 minutes of anything fun! (Even sex, LOL)

I quit during the Summer of 2007 after smoking for over 20 years. It's all about willpower. If you are serious you can do it. First year was hard but after that it's gravy. You'll get stabs of temptation now and then but the longer you've quit the easier it gets to ignore them. Actually the first 3 or 4 months were hell for me but I made it through.
One important thing ... if you give in to temptation and have one during the quitting process, don't let it drag you back to smoking regularly ... just renew your determination and keep trying. If you really want it you will do it.

This is another of Necktards many mental problems. He is shunned IRL (see his latest locked thread in L&R) so he comes here and forces his idiotic ramblings on us. He gets off annoying people and here he can get away with it unlike the real world.

BWAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

That made me laugh.

Giving up smoking is the easiest thing in the world. I know because I've done it thousands of times.

Winner!

I love how you think you know me. You don't.

Statistically, those who say they "quit" smoking just because they haven't had a cigarette in a couple days end up right back where they were, 95% of the time.

statistically, you can't be QUITTING cigarettes, because either you are still smoking, or you are not still smoking...

and I am not still smoking...

Day 20 for me. It isn't easier today than the first day.
Hopefully it gets easier soon.
No patch or gum yet.

yes, I quit... just up and done it.

Did it for my health
Did it for my senses
Did it for myself

I have not had a cigarette for 44 hours.

helps to have some crutches... when craving I will text a friend and just say 'chewing on a toothpick' the toothpick is my other crutch, it gives me something to do with my mouth and well, my dentist said that using a toothpick is better than not flossing at all, so 2 birds 1 piece of wood...

I have been pissed off all day today and expect to be tomorrow. However I have quit. I am not quitting (you can't be quitting, you either quit or smoke). I am now an ex-smoker.

here is to no relapses

Use a patch and lose some weight. You're still going to get cancer though.
