OMG I can't believe this crap

I have plans of selling my 1.4ghz system to fund a 1.6A. Well to make a long story short I wanted to test each stick of ram alone, and now for some reason with either stick of ram it gets to the point where it's booting and then freezes up right after it says AMD 1400mhz RAM 512mb. That's it. FROZEN WTF IS THAT PROBLEM! I'm so mad I'm about to throw this thing out the window. Why on my birthday! WHY

LMAO Now it's just cylcing...not freezing...going through the whole cycle..

Okay, here's the whole story:

Someone needed a stick of PC133, and I need DDR. So I figured hey I'd give them my 512mb for their 512mb. I shut down my computer to check the Chips and tested each one individually. The 2nd chip I tested (tried to boot at cas2) it would only boot to a blank screen. So I figured well it just didn't like cas2, so I cleared the cmos. same thing. I pulled out my video card, and put it back in and it worked again. So I was ok. Then I had my new case sitting here, ,and thought that I should just put my computer in the new case.

Got it all setup and now this is happening! tried both sticks of ram. Tried new AS2,, tried reattatching the HSF a number of times. I dunno

OMG what next...my cable modem just went out for 10mins

hmm, I dunno. Either get your old RAM back for this faulty RAM. Or bite the bullet and order some DDR from Crucial. You can't go wrong there and the price is right.

If you've got a delta and it's that hot there's something wrong obviously. You could be mounting the heatsink backwards so it's not making proper contact, have the sink right but the clip backwards or there could be a little debris inbetween the core and the heatsink surface. I chipped a tiny little grain of core once with my Tbird, didn't even notice it except my temps were real high. Only upon wiping the chip and sink down did I discover it.

How about a 9th time?

I guess I chipped it. Looks like I'm gonna be running this baby at 600mhz from now on! I'm posting from it right now. 600mhz @ 127F. Not too bad. Still hot for a 600mhz, but my 1.6A should be here shortly. Thanks for your help guys.

and remember

WHEN YOU'RE HANDLING A CPU BE BERRY BERRY CAREFUL!

Even if you chipped it, that would do 1 of 2 things.... nothing... or it wouldnt work... unless the peice you chipped got between the core and the heatsink so it isnt making proper contact... it wouldnt make it run that hot. Plain and simple... that Heatsink isnt on right.... are you using thermal compound? Is it on backwards? Did it have a plastic cover over the thermal pad and you forgot to take it off? Did the clip get reversed? I guarantee your problem is with the heatsink.
