This forum was filled with a lot of people who disliked Bush and was ecstatic for the upcoming presidential election.

I remember all the stuff people spewed, how Bush sucks, how he screwed up the economy blah blah blah.

About a year into Obama's presidency I noticed the same exact things being said (not here) as what was being said here except all you had to do was put Obama's name where Bush's was once and democrat where republican once was.

What will it be like when 2012 rolls around?

If you believe people like spidey07, PJABBER, and their ilk, it will be all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows because the Tea Party is coming in 2010 and is going to put the brakes on all the bad stuff that's been happening.

HAHAHA! That's a good one...

Lather, rinse, repeat.

LOL So true.

I predict I'll hate both parties, but I'll hate the Democrats more. I only hope the Libertarians will stop actually publishing a platform so I can go back to blissfully voting for them.

I predict that in 2011, Republicans will be complaining about Democrats filibustering bills in the Senate.

There isn't any hope at all now. The rich will buy who they want anonymously?

Only when the cudlips awaken from their dream, which will never happen, could the Constitution be amended and money forced out of our elections. The brain-dead can always be taught what to think by propaganda and money buys that propaganda. Where will the money come from to deprogram the masses?

I think the elections are going to only get us started down a very hard road indeed. There will be many detours and breakdown along the way. There will be much pain.

The course, should we hold true to it, will ultimately be rewarding beyond our imagination, but I expect nothing but issues for the next 4 - 6 years.

Your faith in anything actually changing at the hands of those you anoint as dei ex machina Tea Party candidates is touching, but historically unjustified. Promises from politicians are a dime a dozen.

You are probably right, but somehow I don't see the dems being that much in lock-step with each other. The R's are much more effective when in minority than the D's have been when they were in the minority. Getting them to agree is like herding cats.

The only option is to keep throwing them out... R or D... The R's had their chance, failed.. The D's had theirs, made it worse.. The R's will get another chance.. Maybe if we throw enough of them out we will get some in there who will do what is right for the country. I am not as concerned about R vs D as I am in doing what is right for this country. I don't think putting an L in front of your name will mean anything different.

The funny thing is the worst you can really accuse the dems of doing so far as the economy is over-estimating their ability and making promises that were unreasonable. The economy was screwed up when they took over and they failed to realize it was gonna get worse before it got better. They vastly underestimated how bad it actually was. And as a result they made promises about fixing it that couldn't possibly happen in the time they had. Funny thing is that the dem policies are working and the recession is over, but it's moving a lot slower than they thought. Now if republicans get back in charge I'd not be surprised if they fuck it all up again.

You are 100% correct about politicians. Which is exactly why I can hope that the non-pro politicians of the Tea Party might be unusually effective until they become suborned by the system. I believe it takes about five years.

For the '94 Republicans it took six years. I think that probably represents the maximum possible. Had the Pubbies won power in '96 and received a compliant Republican President in 2000, probably would have been four years. Power is very corrupting.

LOL so true, but not likely since they won't have to filibuster given the power of Obama's veto.
