I was in Hollywood a few weeks back, and I thought it would be hotter there as well. I remember walking around in a nice long sleeved shirt, and was comfortable as heck. The nights there are really nice also...

Were you here last month when temps were hitting 116 in some places?

I doubt they were anywhere near 100 near the beach

The ground in California furiously shaking you back and forth keeps you cool enough to not need an air conditioner.

During the last 3 years in Virginia we had a earthquake, 1 hurricane and 2 floods

It hit 97 degrees in the shade at my house and I'm about 7 miles from the beach.

It was hot as hell for about a month and then 2 weeks ago the heat broke and gave way to some really nice weather.

Socal has some of the nicest weather you could ever see! It doesnt get that hot down there.

Now where I live, although its nice now, we just got over a couple week long heat wave of 115+ temps. That was bad.

Get used to it. We can go months without rain here. The average annual rainfall for Newport Beach is 10.8 inches.

I did a group bike ride in Newport last Sunday. Nice area.

depends where in so cal,

i live 5 miles from the coast, and i've only used the a/c in my apartment about 3-5 times this summer.

different story if you live in the valleys.

7 miles inland is a little too far to feel the coastal breeze

La Jolla here. As everyone mentioned, except for that stretch in July every day has been pretty nice.

During the heat wave I had to run some errands up in Burbank and, ugh, freakin' hot up there. I'm a bit south of the Beverly Center and the only reason I've used the AC a lot this summer is 'cause a new apartment building is going up next door and if I leave the windows open I get a think layer of dust over the whole apartment in like 24hrs. My electric bill is gonna suck.

well you live in newport beach hence the cooler weather. BUt as of late the whole state is getting some relatively cool temps. If its 85 or so there's a a breeze.

supposed to get warmer into the 90s this week and early next week.

we did have a heat wave a month ago.

Way to judge an entire region based on one thin strip of coastal area.

MOST of SoCal gets into the 90s most days of the summer with regular heatwaves in the 100s. Only right along the coast is cooler, but you also have a LOT of overcast days on the coast, while it's sunny most days inland.

Try living in the San Fernando Valley, or San Bernardino County... hell most of the LA basin for that matter.
