yesterday night I got my system ready for the aiw radeon I would get today by fdisk & formatt. Today I put my aiw radeon & connected to my DVI monitor, copied the windows files to hdd & installed from there, everything goes fine, I load into windows install my monitor drivers followed by the via 4.28 final, installing only the agp & inf files. I reboot & next install the radeon 7078 by going to control panel, display adapter, update driver & directed it to the folder, everything goes fine, I reboot, then right after the windows logo, I get a error protection message of some kind, & the computer shutdowns by itself really fast that I can't even make out the whole error message. I decided to go back to the analog mode for the monitor & same thing. Now I formatted again & just installed the cd drivers & everything works without any problems, should I try to install the 7078 over the current 3056 drivers? if I should what if that problem happens again, how do I uninstall the driver & where do I look in the registry to delete any other files from safe mode? also I noticed the when I ran the ati easy install, ati install a atigart is that ati's own version of the agp or should I install the 4 in 1 again, since I installed the 4 in 1 1st then the ati drivers, is the atigart better?

My system spec.

What operating system are you using?, I might be wrong, but aren't those 2 driver sets you mention for different operating systems? I run win2k and currently using the 3100 drivers, aren't the 7078 for win9x and winMe?

I install the 4 in 1's again after the ATI driver installation as well as directx8a, and it has worked well for me.

I don't have a VIA chipset, but I think the problem is when you first install the via 4in1 drivers, then the ATI drivers. The ATI drivers overwrites the atigart driver or something.
