I returned my iPhone mainly because of reception issues with AT&T. I couldn't get any calls at work, but at home the reception was great.
After playing with it for 3 days I thought that it was an excellent product but that it crashed a lot (though much more gracefully versus Palm OS). Also, I thought that Google Maps would have been awesome in landscape mode. Several other small things (copy/paste, a2dp, blah blah) would be nice.
I think that the email app is terrible in its current state, though I am not reliant on email at all. The mail management is very tedious since you can only deal with 1 email at a time.
I'll def. think about buying rev 2 or possible rev 1 with a couple software patches but I really couldn't justify leaving my Sprint SERO contract early for the iPhone, especially considering the phone service (which isn't apples fault) was subpar.
The crashing is something some users have been experiencing but not all. I hear that Apple has been great about returns. If you walk into an Apple store with your phone sayint its crashing a lot, they will give you an exchange no problem. The reception thing however of course is something that can't be fixed, and its a shame. Cell carriers are weird like that. I used to have T-Mobile but I just didn't get service in my apt (in the middle of NYC) so I had to get rid of them. AT&T service has been very good.
I've only had one iPhone crash in my first week of use. I was using the iPod and the whole thing just shut off for no reason. I turned it back on and it was fine.
Safari will crash if you go to a site that is not Safari compliant, i.e. it has less to do with the phone than Safari, for the Mac as well. There is one site I go to that crashes Safari on my MacBook all the time. It will do the same on the iPhone so I stay away.
