hey, don't knock it unless you got a better one yourself!
Well I guess you still have the mind of a child then if that's all you can garner from this story.yeah,
i read the book and liked it...when I was 12 years old
I now find these stories of trolls and dragons childish
Haha. so true. The only time I get ridiculed for being a "nerd" because I love Tolkien is on the internet from people I don't know. People in real life either don't care, or actually respect someone for being passionate about something. Then again maybe I just have some good friends.People who are insulting it probably haven't cracked a book not required by classes. LotR fans aren't generally nerds. You have no idea what kind of cultural phenomenon LotR was in the 60s and 70s. Which book did Led Zeppelin write songs about? Plant is a nerd right?

It comes to a point when you get sick of people like this with their "holier than thou, my sh!t smells sweeter than yours" attitude. Really they're only kidding themselves, but whatever. If it makes you feel better about your own shortcomings, then so be it.

That's alright, I have friends who can't sit through 15 minutes of the film, and I don't care (well, i gotta try first at least )...but saying it's childish and just about trolls got to me. Trolls is probably on the bottom of the list of things of importance in this story. It's real strength is the themes and characters, the history, and just the story as a whole.it's not like that...
Everyone is just entitled to have their opinion, and as everyone on this forum seems to be a huge fan of this movie, I just wanted to point out that I agree with gregshin about the fact that I don't find it as amazing as you guys do...
period...

Of course there are going to be people who didn't like the movie. There has never been, and there will never be, a single artistic endeavor that 100% of humanity agreed upon.
Less than 100% of people would say Mozart composed beautiful music.
Less than 100% of people would say Van Gogh created beautiful paintings.
Less than 100% of people would say the Taj Mahal is a stunning work of architecture.
No matter what, you'll never get EVERYONE to agree on something artistic because art is always evaluated subjectively.
