It's so sad to see members leave...any of them...from the new members like Cobra to the seasoned vets like Polo....all you guys will be missed.

A team that wears (wore?) the AnandTech name so proud crumbles..........

This could have been avoided.............

We'll leave the door open to all you guys and really hate to see the TeAm punished but I do understand.....I support you each as an individual and you all have the right..........that's one of the freedoms that many of us have.

I now it¡¦s a sad thing to do (leave a team) but I done this because this is the only way to let everybody know I hate this kind of abuse of power (moderator power).

I hope i have a email if i get home if not.. maybe we have to think for a new team and a new name offcourse.

1. I read your post in Forum Issues, and I think you were banned for a period of time, not permanently.
2. The end result of you leaving the team permanently is that the team is out X amount of WUs. That is the only measurable result. It would result in damaging the team, but will have done so without having affected the type of moderation that's been in place here. So I'd like for you to find a way(or ways) to get your point across to the mods without damaging the team, because no one from the team pissed you off. Email, maybe?

Um, this may not "officially" be Anand's team but it is his website and forum and it is hosted on his hardware and bandwidth. For that I thank him. However, I'd say he does share some responsibility here. This has gotten way out of hand. Maybe it's time he or someone else in power stepped in and calmed things down for a while. I can understand the reasoning behind the locking of some threads but I think the explanation behind them has been poor at best.

Now I see cobra has been banned? I totally disagree with this. I'm one of the first to admit that I'm here more for my teammates than the website. That said, if the moderators are going to ban our highest producing member maybe it's time to rethink that position. After all, it's hard to keep a team together and climbing the charts when their members get banned. I'm going to be silent for a while and I am going to leave the TA SETI team sometime today. I don't have plans to join another team (yet), just send a message. Maybe it will be received, maybe not. If Anandtech cares about the SETI team then Anandtech will do something. If not then maybe Anandtech doesn't deserve our allegiance. I dunno, if things get back to normal (and cobra is reinstated) I'll be back right away. If not I've got to think about why I (or any of us) are here. I mean, there are a ton of websites out there and some of them actually support their DC teams. I don't mean that to be backhanded or sarcastic, just stating a fact...

if one thing i hate (ask my S@NL team) its a moderator who's thinks he can me a smartass and delete my posts etc..!!
And i'm mad because i dint do anything wrong i only say its a sad thing moderators act like this!.

That wasn't really a question, but more a plea to just it go. I hate to bring this up, but I want you to hear it from a TA member and not from mods(after it happens, no less) so I'll say it: Posting under a different name after being banned is a no-no, so don't be surprised/upset if they come down on you even more. Just a warning.

You are wrong about your "right" to say whatever you want on this forum. This is a private forum owned by Anand (probably by his company to be more correct). Everyone who signs on as a forum member is shown the basic rules. There is a built in censor that does not allow you to post common curse words. The moderators (who are unpaid volunteers and not "professionals") police the rest.

The mods have limited power. They can edit posts (take out links to pornographic sites, for example), lock threads so no more posts can be made in it, and ban members (mostly just for a week). In order to ensure that they have the proper backing and respect, posts attacking the mods are forbiddon and are harshly dealt with.

If you thought that your posts had some special right not to be subject to the same rules that everyone else has, then you are the one who made a mistake, not the mods. I wish the mod had posted instead of editing your post as to be less inflamatory, but he/she was within their rights to do so.

By leaving the team, you hurt your teammates. The team is not the forum nor is it the website. It is the individual members coming together. You will probably be unblocked (better word than "banned") in a week. I doubt the mods will give you an apology, but they do respond to emails and probably would be happy to show you the forum rules.

I encourage you to rejoin the team when your account is unblocked and I encourage you to consider what the rules of the forum are when you rejoin. The moderation of these forums has made it a good place for many to post and it has been very light in the DC area (mainly because it was not needed).
