I see no downside to defunding PP. We hear all the time that taxpayer money is not used for performing abortions. Given that, nearly all the other services that PP performs are covered under Obamacare. I see no need for PP to essentially double dip. They can get their reimbursements solely through Obamacare. They should be able to easily raise enough to cover the small number of services they provide that are not covered. They've got that impressive donor list and all.
Everybody should be happy. Taxpayers are no longer supporting it, those funds can be used elsewhere. The women that seek healthcare services through PP can still access it, with the provisions built into Obamacare covering those costs as Obamacare was designed to do. PP should easily be able to raise enough to fund procedures not covered and for those women seeking abortions, they'll still be paying for them the same way they were before because as we've been told repeatedly and it therefore must be true, taxpayers weren't paying for those anyway.
Everybody wins.
Absolutely, from what I gather PP is pretty much exclusively an abortion clinic, they seem to offer some other services but as you said they are all offered elsewhere, and from a few reports it seems they aren't even close to as big of business as abortions are for PP... If the company has a solid stream of revenue and is profitable I just can't see why we as taxpayers need to fund this.
