I shot the neighborhood K9 this morning... Cautionary PIC inside.

What guns have you fired?
What wild animals have you encountered
How big of a fence do you need to keep a Wolf or Coyote etc. out?

Wouldn't putting up this fence violate the HOA that you always like to defend (iirc)?
Those damn sheep are viscous creatures. Gotta keep them fenced.

I propose shooting one a day and posting the pics here so the bleeding-heart pansies can cry into their pillows at night.

Fucking sheltered Brit...what kind of "wild animals" do they still have on their little island? Mice? Rats? Sheep are domesticated...not wild. (unless you can get them to party...then LOOK OUT!)

I have fired. A couple of Glocks, a Desert Eagle, a .357 Magnum (revolver of some sort) An M16, A WWII Thompson, an AK47, and MP5 and a few .22 Rifles all good fun. Probably more, but I can't remember it was a while ago.

Wild animals I've encountered I would include some bears in canada! It was awesome.

Electric fence, well built. If it keeps us out it will work for them.

The fences are bad in america.

Stopped your asses.

About one-thirty in the afternoon the British began their assault, marching resolutely, as if on parade, their long red line extending all the way across an open area and into the woods. When the redcoats came within range the militia fired as one man tearing gaping holes in the British line, yet they came on as if nothing had occurred When within the range of their muskets the total British line fired following with a bayonet charge against the first line. The charge was stopped when it became apparent that the first line was laying behind a rail fence with rifles aimed and waiting. There was a pause until British Colonel Webster advanced to the lead, urging his men to advance. The charge was resumed amidst a devastating fire. The militia’s task completed, they ran pell mell through the second line to safety.

but wild animals will dig... so you installing an underground area too???

'some bears' so you were at a park, and there were bears in the distance and the binoculars made them close to you?

Would you even know what to do if you got between a bear and it's cub? (hint: my cousin experienced this once)
ever seen elk?
Deer?
Coyotes?
Wolfs?

I've seen all. including a bear that knocked over my neighbors bird feeders one night

So you shot all the guns that are popular in video games... hmmm.. Doesn't sound made up at all. Revolver of some sort.

Wrong, our chipmunks have more balls than your men.

I was thinking a bit underground as well yes, also It wasn't at a park, it was in a wood somewhere it was pretty cool we got like 6 feet from one and the guide had to scare it away it was really awesome!

Also if it's in self defence it's completely different from what the OP did.

I'm calling bullshit. We are talking about real life use, not naming every gun you used in Counterstrike.

so now you are digging 2 ft in the ground, to install a full below ground barrier...

better call the electric company to ask them to bury the cable deeper
better call the phone company to ask them to bury the cable deeper
better call the gas company to ask them to bury the cable deeper
better check with zoning laws in regards to underground barriers

Parks on this side of the pond have tree's. You were at a park, with a guide, not exactly the definition of encountering a wild animal.

I'm confused, should we be putting fences up or taking them down?

I went boar hunting with a bow and arrow. F that. Not doing that again.
Killing pests and predators that endanger your livestock, pets, etc is okay with me. Folks that have been to an 'outdoors area' and think that is a rural area or the wilderness are stupid.

They are quite Counterstrike aren't they lol. I guess I have good choice. It was awesome fun though, I did it at the Gun Shop in Las Vegas a few years ago.

1. I'm ok with you thinking that.
2. In canada, can't remember where I was 16.
3. Your chipmunks have balls?!

Jesus Christ, Neckarb, the OP shot a pest animal. He had a moral right and a legal right. This happens in nature all the time, an animal defends it's territory. This isn't a big deal. A bullet is cheap, building a fence isn't and it can be defeated. That coyote will not pester the OP any longer. Get over it man.

No, he had no moral right to kill an animal that wasn't putting him in danger, just like with anything else life should be respected unless it is threatening another life, if nothing else could be done then fine, but in this instance the life threatened was a chickens, a chicken that could have been protected with a fence.

The argument "It was pissing me off, and a bullet is cheap" is not a valid moral stance.

There was a single mouse threatening my stash of twinkies so I just built an expensive electric fence around the twinkies. No need to kill the mouse.

Pick the mouse up, pop it outside. Also don't leave your "Twinkies" on the floor.
