I shot the neighborhood K9 this morning... Cautionary PIC inside.

You certainly put this one out of it's misery.

The OP's kill was healthy.

Also in all fairness, man is probably what caused the animal's downward spiral that brought him close enough to shoot.

However; man has no problem with the locals once they want a piece of land. Could even be people for all they care.

I have no problem with pest control providing the BIG BRAIN in it all did their part first.

I have no problem with hunting providing the BIG BRAIN does it properly.

Sadly many get a gun and feel they deserve to start using it.

OH LOOK! That's a raccoon 30 meters out in the no man's land...better git my .223 I just got from Dicks.

The pic of you posing with a dead animal makes you look silly. You accomplished nothing worthy of praise. You killed a lesser animal with a high powered, scoped rifle. Take that rifle elsewhere and kill armed terrorists (who might actually have an opportunity to shoot back). Only then can you claim to have achieved something worthy of a second glance.

I hereby nominate this as OOTY (Ownage of the Year) thread for 2011. Reposting that everyone build an electric fence vs 5 minutes to shoot a pest with a $0.25 bullet is rich. The moron hasn't even posted about the time/cost it would take to maintain such a fence including:

1) Vegetation control via mechanical methods (time) or pesticides (costly)
2) Frost heaving of posts (prevented by using a costly hydraulic post pounder to the right depth)
3) Post insulation + bracing + extra barbed wire. Posts have to be 5-9m apart to be effective, do the math for over 1 acre perimeter. 263/9 = at least 29 posts per acre
4) Constant testing to ensure proper voltage
5) Wind erosion which can render the bottom line ineffective
6) Rodent burrows which have to be treated with a sterilant. They can render the bottom line ineffective.

Or shoot it for $0.25.

Just because it's cost effective doesn't make it moral! Jesus people! It's cheaper to kill of fat people and smokers than to have doctors help them for years on end. But it's not OK!!!!?!!! FFS

Amazing that when you're called out with evidence about your stupid "electric fence for everyone!" idea, you tuck your tail and run like a pansy. Not surprised.

Missed that one, sorry, just replied.

P.S. "Pansy" lol

It's funny how some people here are trying to push the point that animals act like this in the wild therefore it's ok for us to. Aren't we more evolved then the animal kingdom?

define "more evolved."

I know I can't see the ultraviolet spectrum like many species of parrots.

I can't hear a mouse skittering in leaves 100 yards below me, at night, like an Owl can.

I can't detect changes in strata and electromagnetic dispersions from prey creatures within 200 feet like a shark can.

all of that shit would have been awesome, sure, but I've got a highly developed melon and two thumbs that help me surpass many of those disadvantages.

I would call that evolved for a different purpose.

killing a pest does not imply lack of respect for that pest.

unless it's a nutria, sure. or a fucking starling. or Kudzu....those should all be murdered--and with great prejudice.

your information is wrong. And being less expensive may well make it moral if the additional funds would have otherwise gone to help others more than the loss of this useless skin-bag has.

So your argument is that the choice is kill the animal for cheap and give the money to african starving children or don't kill the animal using the money to save it...?

OK... So you think that morality is based on cost? And the cheaper it gets the more moral it becomes?!

No, those people die younger and are better for health care.

No, the choice is kill them or they fuck up the environment, themselves, and us.

If you could buy your innocent relative off of death row, would you pay $1,000? How about $300,000? How about $1,200,000?
