yes.. I was a big computer geek in high school so I never developed the proper social skills... I find it hard to mesh in with people
it's weird.. I was improving greatly in terms of communication and dealing with people... as soon as I return to the U.S... I'm completely over worrying and anxious around people now.. I don't what happened to me.

Heh... That's not what "anti-social" means. Antisocial means you commit acts against society... vandalism, stealing, murder and rape are all examples of antisocial behaviour.

Antisocial != introverted.

I'm doing my EE internship right now at a automotive plant, and honestly, you need to have huge people skills to deal with everyone there. You can get by doing engineering work by yourself, but you'll never move up if you're not comfortable with people. And those very jobs you seek that require no social skills are the ones being moved overseas.

A technical workplace type setting is not limited strictly to engineering positions. Other excellent possibilities include statistics, economics, finance, tax accounting, and law. Being technical is merely holding a strong grasp of the rules a major or profession follows.

A person can even be considered technical as a painter if well aware of the different tools available, including how and when to use the different tools. Examples include the choice between water and oil base paints, use of lighting, texture, brush strokes, imagery, and such.

A good writer can be considered technical if the use of the varying forms of communication are known, understood, and mastered. There are different rules to follow for general stories, essays, novels, poetry, and other forms of communication. For example, take a descriptive essay that you have written and turn it into a poem. An understanding of the rules poetry follows is necessary to do this.

Choose a direction and learn the rules involved in that direction until they are completely understood. Then apply and develop those rules in daily work to allow a mastery of these rules to develop.

If the rules of a discipline are focused on, rather than the people aspect, then a person will become a knowledgeable technician of that discipline.
