Ok, there seems to be quite a few negative threads out there so I'm going to be different and suggest a thread where you can all tell us about the last thing that made you smile and maybe make others smile too.
It's not all bad and life is absolutely too short. Go out, play in the sunshine, feed some ducks, smell the flowers and so on. Then, tell us about what made you smile.

My contribution:
I got woken up in the night by a loud slurping noise coming from the garden.
When I looked out of the window I saw a fox and her two cubs drinking loudly from our pond.
That was actually worth being woken up at 2 am for. (I live in Switzerland)

Got home last night from two weeks in Belgium and Germany. Have today off work so I went to Whole Foods this morning to get a breakfast burrito (egg, bacon, and green chili) and a coffee. I was there 10 minutes before it opened and as I was sitting in my car watching the sun rise over the mountains "Three Little Birds" came up on the radio. I smiled.

I smiled again a few minutes later as I walked by the little birdies scrounging for food on the ground near the tables in front of the store.

The coffee was fresh and the burrito was delicious.

I woke up to absolute silence at 3AM last night.

The soundproofing on my basement is awesome.

Woke up this morning and looked outside to a view of squash blossoms. I cut down a few of the squash blossoms and put them in the fridge. I will be stopping by the grocery store after work to pick up some ricotta cheese to make some delicious blossoms with stuffed ricotta cheese as appetizer for dinner. Just thinking about it puts a smile on my face.

sounds tasty!

My little dog came ripping through the house this morning, practically dribbling a rubber toy. She was trying to get anybody to engage her.
This made me smile.
This is her:

Not today, but last week I saw a living badger in the wild for the first time. Still makes me smile.

Last night I linked an article on this site (and another) about the California legislature. Found out today it was a hoax. That doesn't happen often, but it brought a smile to my face realizing that I was duped.

Aside from that, I had a good belly laugh from the self-righteous political zealots who enjoy pounding on anyone with a different view. I picture them foaming at the mouth. I don't feel this is negative, but you may see it differently. So if you don't condemn me, I won't condemn you.

Staying out of P&N makes me smile.

I helped a retired couple over the phone last week (configuring email on multiple devices). They sent me a $50 gift card for Longhorn Steak House.

I smiled because when I woke up and walked to my kitchen, I was able to make myself some coffee. This meant several good things occurred early in my day.

I was able to Walk without using a cane today,
my electric and water are still on,
I still am able to pay my bills to stay in my home,
I still had coffee in the house; and some milk to make my coffee the way I like it.

+1 to you.

It's taken me a while to realize it but life could be worse. Guy I've known for 15 years was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a month ago. He's mid 50s.

I have coffee, lights, AC, loving wife and kid....made in the shade and I surly don't deserve it.

I'm too pissed off at what the Senate did today to smile.

Maybe after some Da Vinci wine, cheese and crackers I'll smile.

I smiled today because:

Weather was beautiful.

This evening, there was a HUGE thundercloud towering on the horizon. The whole top of the cloud kept getting lit up by lightning. Awesome display of lightning, and quite a few neat, chain reaction types of lightning.

Got a lot of work done in the apartment; bedroom is wired, all the double-offset walls are done, began closet walls, finally found tile I like (and purchased it) for the shower.

Stopped at a sort of fast food restaurant about 10 minutes before they closed - was really nice to the girl working, and made sure no parts of my order required them to make something fresh, because I know how much of a pain in the neck it is for someone to come in at the last minute and order something, resulting in needing to reclean an area, plus a lot of wasted food. The girl threw in all sorts of extras into my bag; I'm set for lunch tomorrow and Wed.

I noticed that one group of our goats were at the back of their pasture area; decided to take a video of them coming to see me. (They expected treats, and got treats.) I'll edit this post once the video uploads. 77?! minutes to go. (Flaky connection today for some reason.)

I smiled today because the OP, a denizen of the most xenophobic nation on Earth, didn't ask the fox for proof of citizenship.

I smiled today due to a pleasant exchange in the P&N forum that brought back a flood of great childhood memories and reminded me just how fortunate I was to have the kind of childhood that I had.

Thanks again highland from SC!

Yes... That P&N forum lol.
