Youre pretty smart....not.

They put a deficit in your account (-$180 for example). If you dont pay up it goes to collections, which comes back to your credit report. After back interest, atty fees, etc, the balance is now $650.00, but some third party debt collector who has the right to harrass your cell / home phones will settle for $350 some time in the future.

They got this all figured out, with millions of accounts and 15 years of experience under the belt dealing with people like you.

Paypal isn't credit. Feel free to send it to collections, when I tell the collections "I dispute. Please validate." have fun with that. What are they going to validate?

I know you're one to bend over to anyone that says they are there to collect debt from you (just like the average consumer), but that doesn't mean it's the correct (and only) action.

Have fun dealing with collections!
From what I've read it takes about a year or so before they do that.... Either way I know that I won't be a happy camper if that happens and I fully intend to drag it out as long as possible. $15/month for 12 months doesn't sound like bad payment plan if that's the case.

Know your rights if it ever comes to collections.

Collections isn't as big of a deal as everyone makes it. You send a letter telling them "I dispute, please validate" As well as telling them to only communicate via US Mail.

You have rights. The problem is no one knows how to use them.

I know it's all fun to bitch as a seller, but sometimes there are legitimate problems requiring returns. I'm trying to buy Galaxy S4 phone. It's an old phone so at this point ebay is pretty much the only option. The first one I got was sold as Manufacturer Refurbished, it looked great, but had problems recognizing SIM card every 24 hours - every 24 hours it would "eject" the sim card and I'd have to restart the phone to get it working again. I'd have to spend $100 to replace the motherboard so I returned that. Got another one that was sold as new. This one a) has KNOX security flag tripped and b) has screen coat damage in various places so those places always look dirtier than the rest of the screen and my finger does not slide as smoothly over those places. A screen/digitizer replacement would cost me $100+ to replace. So I think I'm going to have to return that one as well. At this point I'm pretty pissed, two duds out of two.

You're right. It's not credit, it's a debt owed. Just like any bill you're contractually obligated to pay (which you agree to when you accept their terms of service when opening and continuing to use a Paypal and/or eBay account). They'll happily validate it for you. Eventually they may even get a small claims court to validate a judgement for you too, of which you'll even pay those fees too.

But have fun sticking your head in the sand!

You have rights. The problem is no one knows how to use them.

Including you apparently.

sold an OG droid on ebay. worked completely fine when i shipped it. they get it, says it doesn't boot up, mail it back to me, i give them refund. I plug it in, it turns on fine and charges. assholes give me negative feedback anyways. WTF!. I post a picture of the person's return package and the phone booting up. ebay can't do anything about withdrawing feedback.

Is it really worth all the effort? If you really think it works, just refund his money, and get the board back. Why be out the entire $180?

They probably just didn't want it, so they made up an excuse to let them return it. Although, if someone did that, I wouldn't expect them to post any feedback much less be a douche and also post negative feedback.

Honestly, if someone said that about a phone, I'd be more worried that they pulled a bait-n-switch with a broken phone. I'm always wary about selling Apple products on eBay because of that.

Depends on what my mood will be at the time. I do have a bit of a vindictive streak in me and even though any action that I take won't make any difference in the end but it'll make me feel a little better so in that sense it could he worth it

4 days since I gave him my number and still no response.....

I clicked the "Ask eBay to step in and help" option and I wrote the following:
I'm not sure what to make of this situation. The buyer reported to me that his item did not work 4 weeks after he received the item which is 2 weeks after my stated return policy expired (14 days). This was 11 days ago and since then we've only had 2 message exchanges. It took a week for him to get back to me when I replied the first time and in my last reply I gave him my phone number and he still hasn't gotten back to me after 4 days.

I have over 10 years of experience buying and selling electronics on eBay and based on what I can see, I don't think the buyer is very familiar with the item he bought and so I'm trying to help him with this. He keeps saying that he want's to resolve the issue, but what I don't understand is why you would wait 4 weeks to notify a seller that your item was defective, and furthermore why you would wait so long between responses.

The problem he is having could very well be an easy fix but I have no idea what the problem is without getting more information and I'm now concerned that the item may have been damaged due to his inexperience.

Once I clicked send I got "Internal application error" and now it says that I have to wait until April 17th to ask them again..... This is bullshit.

Motherboard arrived today.

It was received in extremely poor packaging and wasn't even inside the static protective bag that I had shipped it in. And the corners of the board were severely bent.

However I straightened out the bends the best I could and plugged it in and to my surprise it booted right up.....

ill post pics of the bends later when i get the chance. they were bad enough that it probably wouldn't have lined up with the mobo tray and it took some force to straighten them back out. I would have bet my paycheck against a quarter that this board was toast.

As for what to do now I'm not sure. I dont need this but wouldn't feel comfortable re selling this until i ran some stability tests considering what it had been through.

Either way I'm calling buyers remourse.

I will say this much...

I've never owned a Gigabyte mobo but this is definitely a testament to the build quality of their motherboards.

My next board may very well be a gigabyte if everything checks out.

Based upon prior evidence of his inexperience, I'd guess that he was lazy with the install. He probably installed it without the proper number of stand-offs -- maybe one in each corner? -- and then installed the major components, which may take a bit of force.

Honestly, I was expecting a pin to be broken/bent in the socket or something like that.

refund him the cost minus shipping and $20-30 for the damages

for a lot of things these days if it's a new user and I'm worried I make a complete video of everything working, me removing everything, packaging, and shipping, including taking it to the shipping store.

IMO it is a retarded end user.

Anyways, PP seller protection only extends if the item was significantly not as described. The item was described accurately and works without issue. The buyer even damaged it. I think that you would probably win if you ended up having to take PP to arbitration over their forced refund.
