I spent $1200 on a DJI Phantom and I got bored with it in two weeks.

Combine your reloading hobby with your drone hobby. Explosions never get old.
lol You, sir, have won the Internet. Though Red Squirrel has the right idea - combine the three. There's a wiley old trout - and now he's fishsticks.

You have the same problem I have. I enjoy the idea of new things but I get most of the joy out of creating the new thing, then I don't have as much fun with the thing that I thought I would.

1) 120 gallon fresh water planted fish tank. Fun for a few months but got sick of maintenance. Most of the fun for mye was building the stand and canopy and doing the plumbing and getting everything setup initially.
2) Arcade cabinet (MAME Cab). Several months later I was barely using it. Then the desktop it depended on fialed and I replaced it. Got it mostly up and running again but I basically ignore it these days. Most of the fun was building it and configuring the desktop.
3) Recently, bought a Denon x3300 receiver (refurb to save money). OK, I already have an awesome setup so this is used daily. The beauty of this upgrade is that it turns on with the TV so it is always in use! But I probably get a lesser model even though I am using the 7 amps in it and subwoofer outs.
4) Bought a few movies for my home entertainment center because "they would be awesome on it" and have yet to watch it. Hell, I even bought Logan already in 4K.
5) Oh, wanted (not needed) a $K blu ray player since I have a 4K TV. dedicated 4k blu ray players are $200 so I bought an Xbox One S that I barely use.
6) Oh, games. I buy games that I think I'll love and don't get to them. I probably play half of the games I buy. I have Prey sitting and waiting still. I've bought one game recently and played it for 5 minutes and decided that it is not for me. Hell, all I do is play friggin rocket league. I should just stop buying anything.
7) Buy books with every intent of reading them and rarely do.

I'm sure I have more examples. The thing is, I realize this about myself so over time this sickness has lessened.
I have a similar issue, in that I find the journey of figuring out how to build/do something more rewarding than the end game. I've teamed up with the fiance and we've been making a lot of stuff for our wedding ourselves. It's mostly crafty stuff, but some of it is a little more involved. Makes me realize I want a decent workshop and learn woodworking, stuff like that. I could get the thrill of making things and learning how to make more complex stuff as time goes on, and if I get good enough at it even make things worth selling.

I also tried the woodworking hobby. I learned that I liked cutting wood and building things, but I never had the patience to do a good job with whatever finish I was going to put on the project. Even though I don't do any real woodworking now, it's still nice to have the tools sitting around for when I do feel like building something.

Well, fishing is the hobby he enjoys. I think it would be better to combine reloading with fishing, because it will just enhance the one hobby he actually enjoys. Combining two boring hobbies sounds like another losing formula.
I was thinking the same thing and then merged all three aspects to a RC submarine that he can torpedo fish with.

Same here. I love researching products and shopping for them, and building PCs or some craft project, but at the end of it I tire of whatever it is very quickly. For me the satisfaction comes from knowing I've created something, not from actually owning whatever it is I created.

I find it rewarding too to look at an end product I made, but I often lack motivation to actually get to that point. I've been working on my basement for the past years on and off. In reality I could have finished it much faster but I often don't have motivation to put in a full day of work and might only put a few hours or wait till it's late before I start. When I'm lying in bed or at work I have 110% motivation, but when I actually have the time, it's like meh, I rather sit, drink pop, and nef.

Though some days I will be on a roll and put in tons of hours. I want to build a shed this summer and because an outside project really depends on weather I will need to take full advantage of days where it's nice out, so hopefully I will get on a roll. There's no reason why I can't do it in like a week. I find if I really focus on the end product and give myself a daily goal it helps. Like when I was framing my basement I'd say "ok I need to finish at least till the end of this wall span" then I get to there and say "know what I'm just going to lay the bottom and top plate and get it ready for tomorrow" then if I'm on a roll I end up doing way more than I planned.

My newest hobby is electronics, I have not started that far into it yet - mostly watching videos and buying parts, but I plan to start getting into actual projects, so when I actually design a circuit board and have the end product in my hands with all the components on it, it will be quite rewarding to see it work. The nice thing with that particular hobby is that it has the potential of making me money, so it's something I need to look at too. If I can get good enough to make an actual product that performs a certain task and does it well, and sell it (and hope I don't get sued by a patent troll) then that will be super rewarding and something that will keep me motivated. Money is always a good motivator. But seriously, now is a better time than ever to get into electronics, with online ordering, online selling, etc. It was not this easy before.

Downside is depending on the nature of the product you're making it may have to be UL approved and so on, then that gets very hard to do as a 1 man low budget shop. And you have to compete with China, who does not actually need any UL approvals.

I haven't visited this forum in years. For whatever reason, I got an email from Tapatalk about it. Anyway, I can relate. Playing, building a new tech thing is always fun. I even built a MAME machine, similar to another gentleman here. Unfortunately, the pink cloud on these things seems to wear off quickly.

About 18 months ago, I started learning piano. I've played nearly everyday except those days out of town and not at home. The pink cloud hasn't worn off. It's incredibly challenging and rewarding. I will be taking an RCM exam here soon and playing in recital. This is a hobby I can see myself sticking with for a long time.

I'll pay you $600 + shipping for everything.
I'll give you $601 + shipping.

I saw someone using one at the beach when I was in the keys on Tuesday and for that 10 minutes of watching him use it and probably get some really cool footage of the ocean from up there, I really wanted one.

I'll also add that I have the same problem with Legos, models and such. I love building them, but don't really want to keep them when I'm done. I've seen some "rent a toy" services that are basically a netflix for toys and they have Lego sets... so for a monthly fee I could build them, take them apart, then ship them back and get a new one. It's meant for children but they'll never know

Same with the metal earth models.

Love those things, but once they're done I don't really have a spot for them. Some of them I wouldn't mind displaying (like the buildings and such), but a lot of the licensed stuff I don't like enough that I want to display them... I just want to build them. I've already built a star destroyer and tie fighter because they were cheap, but I don't need to display them anywhere.

Based on context I'm going to guess it's making explosives. Or maybe repacking bullets with black powder.

In most cases, you're not using black powder. We've had smokeless powder for nigh on a century - black powder gets used in vintage firearms and muzzleloaders, but I suspect most of what's used every year is, umm, shall we say, "amateur fireworks."
