Ugh, finally back in college part time after a three year absence. Got my act together, got the money together. Working full time and going to school part time.

Just got back my first test of my new college career. Have been sure for the week and a half it has taken him to get everyone tested and graded that I aced this thing.

I got a 78 out of 100.

Short answers, and two essays one worth 40 pts and one worth 20 points. He gave us two pages for each essay. I did my short answers first then flipped back to the first essay. While writing it I managed to flip the pages so that I skipped and forgot about the second essay, and continued the first essay on the second blank page past the second essay. Heck I wrote on the back of the pages and ended up writing a 4 1/4 page answer for the first essay. He said it was a great answer.

I got a 78 out of 100 and I skipped a 20 point question. I'm going to try to find time between work and my other class to talk to him(his office hours don't fit into that schedule) to see if he will let me answer that question, answer another question, or let me answer that question for half the points. But he's a 70 year old skinny man with a white beard who wears a belt with the marine insignia and I have the feeling he's going to be a stickler.

Curse words here

Grades are meaningless, all that matters is the piece of paper that comes afterwards. You passed, keep it up.

unless you want a job that has a lot of great applicants, unless you want to go to a top MBA program, unless you want to go to law school, unless you aspire to go to vet, medical, or dental school...

I started taking classes again this fall after graduating 2years ago (have some prereqs to finish for grad/med school). I decided to start out slow, 1 easy class. Doing well but it's tough to get into the habit of studying, it used to be that I could just come home after work and watch tv, play games, etc but now I actually have to set time aside to study.

Hang in there, it's just the mid-term.

Well... I've been in college for 4 years, and this is my last year. I haven't been able to get above 70% on any of my biology and biochemistry tests, and I'm almost always below average. You should feel good about yourself.

I have done a pretty similar thing, I skipped 1/2 of a test because I thought I was finished with it. Luckily, it was just an AP test so it just means I wasted $50 (of my parent's money ), and I still got a 2/5 on it

True. It's just a high C, but I know that if I had answered the question I would have had between a 95 or 98 and thats what kills me. It's a linguistics class so it's something that I should be able to do good in with some effort. I left before because I wasn't focused and didnt have a goal so was doing terribly. I was also in love(idiot) and my girlfriend was transferring to another university. I really want to do well gradewise to try to bring my gpa back up and prove that I'm not just smart enough but actually have the dedication this time around.

Back to finishing my first 5 page essay of my new college life.

Got my reply back . Don't have the email with me right now but it contained the phrase.

"You'll just have to live with it"

he basically said that, then that we covered the question i didnt answer on our review so I should have expected one. Which I did, and I prepared for it, he also covered other big subjects on review that were left on the test. Though I have a feeling that trying to argue it at this point will just piss him off.

Here is the email:

"You're going to have to live with this. I mentioned during the review that there would be a question on one of the myths, so you should have expected one.

On the bright side, you can still get a A for the course if you do as well on the other three exams as you did on the parts of Exam 1 that you finished."

next time talk to him in person if possible.
Good job on the test other than skipping the question, and good luck.

Dear OP, get a clue. Getting an education is not about WHAT you learn or score on a test, it's about HOW to learn. Be happy. You just learned how to pay attention.

A C+ isn't gonna kill you; unless of course you forget to answer a question on each of your following exams.
