Any tips for an intermediate level player? I've been playing for about 3 years now (took a long break and now I'm trying to play seriously again) and I'd like to get a lot better.

Things I've been practicing so far include:

Sweeping
Legato
Pentatonic/Pentatonic Blues scale
A Minor scale
Tapping
A little bit of string skipping
Rhythm/Beats
Finger melody songs (White Lion, Metallica, Tesla , Kansas, and some blues/jazzy tunes)
Pinch harmonics

From what I've seen of my playing, my fingers don't coordinate well. My picking hand will sometimes be too slow or vice versa and sometimes I'll end up hitting the wrong string (but this could because I have partial ADD and start thinking about other things while I play, even on stage). Right now, to pick up my finger speed and precision I've been practicing Necrophagist, progress is steady!

Any thoughts, input, or advice on what I could do to improve my guitar playing would be great! Thanks for the read and I appreciate any replies.

sadly, the best way to get better is to practice, practice, and practice.

Taking lessons also helps immensely.

I will raise you one!

Of course that is on a bass...

To the OP:

Learn as much music theory as you can. It is unbelievable how much easier it becomes to learn songs when you have at least a basic understanding of the intervals and modes. Try some of these lessons: Text

Just remember, there are no hard rules when it comes to music theory, and there is always more to learn.
