I think I broke my foot

A little under a week ago (saturday) the outside of my foot right in the middle starting having a sore bone kind of pain. Didn't think anything of it. Not much if any swelling, just an annoying bone pain. Well it didn't get any better and today it hurts like a motherfucker. Very painful to walk and when my wife examined it when I asked if there was any swelling she pressed very mildly on the outside of my foot.

HOLY CRAP that hurt, as in I yelled in pain. Probably not much a doctor can do at this point but I'll go into an immediate care center tomorrow and get x-rays. Probably put me in an air cast of some sort.

So is it broken given that much pain and that it's gotten worse, not better? Feels fine when no weight is on it, but press on it or put weight on it and VERY painful after almost a week. The pain went from annoying and mild, to now I don't want to walk on it or touch.

Buddy of mine walked on a broken foot for over a year after the nurse told him it was 'only sprained' and it would get better after a few weeks(it didn't). He ended up having to have surgery after finally going and getting it x-rayed and ended up having to wear a boot for quite some time.

Hope yours isn't that bad...

That's why I'm going in. My body is telling me something and 5-6 days is too long for it to be this painful and not get any better.

I want one of those scooters like jones drew was rolling around with. That would be sweet and score some sympathy points.

If it's not broken it sounds like a stress fracture. Especially since it feels fine with no weight, but gets worse with weight. A stress fracture might not show up on an x-ray right away but at least it'll tell you whether it's broken or not.

I'm getting over one from about a month ago. I was walking with a limp for a couple days from the pain. The doc said there wasn't much I could do about it except stop running for a few weeks and wear hard soled shoes. Hope yours isn't broken, at least.

I had a very small break in my foot when I was younger...I'd be surprised if you actually broke something w/ out realizing it at the time...

For me, I landed very awkwardly on something after jumping- hurt like hell at the time and was very swollen the next morning- couldn't walk at all on it.

Stress fracture maybe? Been running a lot more than usual? I had one that felt like what you described.

I new a guy who said he banged his foot in his dream or something. It was all swollen and he could barely walk on it.

He thought he broke it.

Turned out he just had gout. Not enough water + too much alcohol + bad diet will do terrible things to you.

Why hard soled? Wouldn't softer provide more cushion and cause less damage?
