I stopped reading after I saw 'perfect for her.' Then I just smiled. Let us know the comedy that happens next.

Good car for transporting many people, or just about anything you want. That van is huge!

$42k for a van?

That is ridiculous...but the 33k starting price doesn't seem so bad as long as the base equipment is sufficient (which I would hope it is for such a utilitarian vehicle).

I'd wonder what the safety stats are like. It being a MB, I have some confidence, but it also being a work van, I doubt safety was a primary concern.

$29k for the cargo model instead of $33k the passenger model........leaves $4000 for shag carpet and diamond-tufted velour walls/ceiling. Bowchickawowwow.

That's not a car. Why the need for a large SUV? Are you transporting a lot of kids/people everyday?

3 kids under 2 as well as 2 dogs make for a tight fit with our current 4Runner. I'm going to push to stay with the 4Runner as long as possible, but my wife wants something a bit larger. We only have one car now...this would be her car and I would take the 4Runner.

I'd probably rather buy a sienna. Cheaper, probably a lot faster, and I'd suspect more comfortable. I like Mercedes vans and all but that doesn't seem good value to me. Nothing seems terribly luxurious about it, and that poor little color screen up front. Seems fine for taxi transport or something though. Still a ford transit looks like it would give this a decent run for its money. Also given that, AFAIK, minivans are unibody and often have independent suspension it should make them more comfortable.

A freaking Odyssey will blow that out of the water.

Absolutely. As a people carrier, the odyssey is likely far superior for equal money. I like the straight up utility of this vehicle along with the prospect of AWD. I'm sure if given the choice (and ruling out AWD), my wife would prefer the Odyssey. Another benefit this MB has going for it is a turbo engine. Helps a lot in the mountains where NA engines lose a lot of power.

I am on my 3rd ody in the past 7 years.
But Ody pricing is getting ridiculously high. Hitting the 44k mark for a touring elite.
But the 44k still doesn't get you the capability of knowing what the exact tire pressure is in each tire.
Once u see low tire pressure on your dash u have to run around the van with a tire gauge to figure out which tire is low.

But I guess it wins on comfort and mileage.
I average about 27mpg

I think it is due to this high price point they have deicded to stick a premium badge on the touring elite/elite and move it over to the acura line up

Do you guys ever sleep anymore? I got frazzled just reading that.

Well #3 hasn't shown up yet...will be arriving in December. The twins are closing in on 13 months now.

To be honest, it hasn't been that bad. I give a lot of the credit to my wife. The babies have also been good natured and have been sleeping through the night since they were 6 months (put down between 7-8 at night and wake up between 6-7 the next morning). It helps a lot that my wife stays at home with them.

I think having the 3rd will certainly make things a lot more difficult for the first couple of years, but we like the idea of having 3 kids so close to each other. The twins already play together and can keep each other busy for extended periods.

I've still had enough time to train for marathons and go on long mountain bike rides. One key is that I make a point to limit how much I work. I also get up extra early to go mountain biking and running to minimize how much time I am away while everyone is up.

Another unexpected help has been our recent purchase of a condo in the mountains. Going on vacations will certainly be hampered over the next few years, but heading up to the condo is a nice mini-vacation that gives us a nice break from the day to day life down here in Denver.
