A Weizenbier direct from Deutschland. But it's $15 a bottle!

Extremly smooth but with plenty of character, the coloration is perfect. Great head!...*snicker* Everything's just so balanced.

I can't wait for my two week trip to Germany next month.

--edit--
But I just finished the bottle, and I have no buzz
time for the hefe!

not worth the $15...it tastes the same as other german macro brews...ex: becks, warfsteiner......

just get drunk on pbr. its better.

I had the McKeller Beer Geek Breakfast last night at a bar. Great stout. I also had a Fort Collins Chocolate Stout mixed with a splash of Lindemans Frambois, It was like a dark chocolate raspberry drink, I think the mix was a little heavy on the lindemans but it was still excellent. We have a bar here in Atlanta that you have to be a member of their club to get in. It's almost like a speakeasy, you go around the back of a building to the loading area and you push this button on an almost unmarked door. Amazing place. It's called "The Fred"

I'm living in Europe right now so my choices for American brews are very limited. I do miss Pabst, Blue Moon, Dogfish, Flying Dog, Sierra Nevada, Yuengling etc etc etc. But I get to explore all these new tasties around me.

The only stuff I can get from the states is good ole Sam Adams, but even that tastes funny after the boat trip it takes over here.

On the up side I just had my first Dos Equis in about a year at a Slovenian... Mexican restaurant

I don't care for IPAs or Mexican beers. The occasional doppelbock (Paulaner Salvator, Spaten Optimator) are good. The taste and the texture of the head is interesting in a beer. My favorites are usually lagers, usually the german/dutch varieties. Of course there is always the favorite... FREE!

I am always about trying local brews where ever ... but in complete doubt I'll have a Guinness. Although I do enjoy a stout.

But, I am not one that can pick out hop-piness or yeast or what ever tho. If the bar only serves Bud, Milwaukee, or PBR ... start acting like a red neck & hope that not too many over heard you.

Did not like the chocolate stout, but Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout... yummy!

I don't know who makes it, but Trader Joe's regularly has some oatmeal stout that I absolutely love. Drinking that stuff is like a meal in and of itself.

But I traditionally like German style beers. And I still haven't found that beer in America that tastes like what I've had in Germany. Even at the Hofbrauhaus in Pittsburgh, one of 3 Hofbrau brewery/restaurants in the world, the weissbier does not taste the same as it does in Germany. I liken it to different ingredient sources. Hell even if you shipped the ingredients over, the transportation alone would probably affect them enough to make the beer taste different.

That reminds me. I have a bottle of Ayinger weissbier sitting downstairs that I bought a year ago and still haven't drunk. It's probably no good now, but it's not going to go to waste!

Exact same results for me, Sam Smith has quite a few great beers also.

My favorite brewery is Stone though.

Their IPA, Levatation, Ruinations, those are so fucking great.

Right now I am drinking Sam Adams Holiday Porter, which is great!

Actually I was just reading my Binny's Beer Club email.

Rogue John John Ale - Dead Guy Ale aged in Dead Guy Whiskey barrels.
22 oz bomber for $9.99 - I need to pick me up at least one of those.

Gonna pick up a few more bottles of 2008 World Wide Stout as well. I'll probably end up spending $100, I usually do.

How would you describe that World Wide Stout? Wouldn't mind trying it, but I'd want to feel relatively confident I'll enjoy the product.
I've had >10% beers, but I don't think any that have approached 20%. I can only imagine that has got to feel like a pretty potent brew while sipping it. Though, Sam Adams Imperial Double Bock, around 10%, tastes smooth and sweet (obviously not a stout), while their Imperial Stout is, well... I didn't much enjoy it, which is a rare event when I don't like their stouts and porters.

Other stouts and porters I have enjoyed, but I haven't tried a wide variety of brands.

I love people who feel the need to chime in with what boils down to "you have a hobby that I don't understand so rather than educate myself about it or recognize that different people have different interests, I'm just going to insult your hobby and call you an idiot for enjoying something different than me." Congratulations, you're a douchebag, and worse, a douchebag with so little going on in their actual lives that they spend their time belittling others on the internet rather than doing something productive with their lives. You're a winner!

As far as beer goes, I have to give some love to the Belgians at this point, because, let's face it, if you have some Westmalle, some Rochefort, some Chimay, some St. Bernardus and some Piraat, you've got a great weekend to look forward to. And for you folks who don't like IPAs, I can see where you're coming from (though I disagree), but try mixing equal parts of Stone Ruination IPA and Stone Smoked Porter; it makes just about the best black and tan I've ever had.

ah don't worry about him. Probably can't buy any alcohol yet anyhow.

When I was adrinkin when I wasn't supposedta, I wanted quantity. Lots and lots of quantity to make it far easier to get shitfaced.

Once I turned 21, getting drunk took a backseat to enjoying the process of getting drunk. And hell, now I rarely get drunk. When I am out to get drunk, I lose it rather fast and the next day sucks. But I enjoy just keeping it to a damn good buzz that gets conversations flowing.
Though the last time the conversations were flowing, ugh the damn shots were too. Again, bad morning.

Like I was saying, at 21... it turned into going out and trying all kinds of new beers. Started figuring out what qualities I liked in a beer, a beer that I was going to sip and enjoy the taste. I find it's a much better time when I am drinking a beer that I can essentially drink like anything else that is drinkable, as in I like the taste.

Discovered, the more hops, the less I want. IPAs? Ugh keep those away. One that I tried tasted like pinesol. D:

Just finished a Surly Furious and Bell's HopSlam the other night. The HopSlam was a limited run a few weeks ago (double IPA) which was quite good, and the Surly is one of my go to beers of choice being from Minnesota. Also, if you can get your hands on one around Halloween the Darkness release from Surly is awesome (Imperial Stout).
