Pornography can become a serious addicition and can lead to the end of realtionships and even sometimes jobs. To be honest, if folks view enough porn, i feel it can lead to false views of sex and sexuality that can in turn give a false idea of what a good wife/gf should or can be.

What is normal can differ from one person to the next, but i would say, OP, if porn is consuming your friends life, perhaps you should consider gently talking with him about it.

OP, I would have to say though, as another guy, that this is a touchy subject for some guys. I would say to maybe mention that you think it would be nice if your friend went out with you and hung out with your friends and met some girls. Make it a positive thing. But don't push him into anything because you may just push him away.

So, like many things in life, too much of something can be bad, as can irresponsible use. People must understand that porn does not represent a realistic manner of sexual behavior, just as movies or reality TV does not accurately reflect the real world.
And, as one Futurama said at the beginning, "Not a substitute for human interaction." I guess that's almost accurate. Porn can in fact be a substitute for human interaction. Just not a very good one. It's like substituting real food with sticks of butter. It's a substitute for real food, but it's really not a very good one.
