thanx! i think i got what i wanted to know, and more!

The region coding is a dead give away.

The region coding is weird, but it does say that the DVD is pressed, so it must have been made by someone with a pretty expensive piece of equipment.

the box or cases to the DVD should list the region, it will be like a globe with a number in it, what does it say.

i looked all over the box and each individual dvd booklet that came inside the box, i am unable to locate the logo you speak of. the only thing i see is on the dvd disc itself, there is some text on the outter rim that says "region 1". this contradicts what dvdinfo is telling me tho (that it's apparently region-free).

edit - ah crap... just realized that on the pic of the disc... the tab is covering where it says "region 1".

They're bootlegs. The pic of the disc shows white outline around the printed image. I print on dvds and sometimes you get a little bit of the white showing (the tops of the discs are white) because the image isn't centered perfectly.

If the casing says region 1 but the discs are region-free(which usually means bootleg already) then I would guess they aren't legit

obviously bootlegs. notice there's no copy protection on the dvd either.

You should email the seller about a refund and if you get a hard time, tell him you will be informing the MPAA about his activities.

Looks like you got some decent quality bootlegs. Great if you know they are bootlegs and don't care, but not cool if you wanted the legit thing.

Its possible the seller may not have realized they were bootlegs. So don't be too harsh.

Update us on the reply. Seriously, I would return them just because they look like they're in shit condition. Not to mention, this guy sells bootlegs, so he is making almost pure profit off this item, and he can't do more than put a couple of best buy ads in the box when he ships it? What a douche.

Tell ebay.

They are bootlegs.

There are several places where you can purchase pressed video DVD's and also games for modded systems, these overseas manufactures are the same ones that make the legit discs, but they run their presses in off hours, the protection is not pressed into the disc and local officials are paid off so that they can keep running.

They will come as a pressed disc, a professional screened dvd label and a glossy cover & insert, all you need to supply are the cases and the shrink wrap.

they run about 4.99 a pop plus shipping.

The strip with all the shots of the characters on the top flap/opening thing on the box looks as if it were cut out and glued on.

Getting ripped off isn't cool either.

And there is a big difference between the average home pirate downloading a movie and a guy selling pirated media, represented as being legit, for a profit.

Unless you're running AnyDVD, those are fake. WB wouldn't release a region free, CSS free DVD unless they were somehow paid $20 for everyone that ever looked at the discs in the store or something.

s the region codes say that is a bootleg. Interesting that the media states that it is pressed.

Doubt they're boot-legged, nobody would go through the trouble like this for $140. Likely used, or likely a messed up set that was sold cheap by a store somewhere because it was damaged in shipping to them.

Also, right at the top there's one going for way less, you paid too much for that crap

i think this went way over your head. whoever it is that pirated these dvds are not your normal everyday netflix pirate. probably some pro's in china that sell bootlegs wholesale.

Commercial DVDs can come single-layer. History of the World Part One is a single-layer disc, for example.

says that in the auction
AUTHENTIC Region 1 release (USA/Canada) copy.

since it says that in the auction i dont think you have any leg to stand on unless he is nice enough to take it back.. I would be heated spending 150 on fakes.

Huh?

It says authentic.

His are not authentic.

Nor are they just region 1.

He's got loads of legs to stand on with this bootleg seller.

Edit:

OP - another thing is the way the strip of pictures is attached to the front...it looks like on the legit ones there's an inset that they go in...like on this picture from Amazon's website.

Just another thought.

Welcome to the New Global Economy!
You're the proud owner of real Chineese Bootlegs!

Nothing goes into these fine products like quality!!
/ sarcasm meter calibration. check for full sclae deflection.

According to my Russian friend, the possibility of buying a bootleg product is 99.99%, if it's on eBay.

His "friends" will buy a customer name, usually from someone they ''have something'' on, then sell their products alongside the original customer's goods.
The higher your feedback rating, thew more they pay you for your name.

I had a 99.98 % rating when I quit playing there.
They offered me a couple of grand, though I turned them down, as I didn't want the hassle of turning the name back on again.

Caveat Emptor when it comes to eBay.
The Russian mob runs the show there, despite what eBay may say.

The #1 response of the immature, and the friend of the thief.

How is selling bootlegs as authentic product "cool"?
Is it cool to conduct fraud on an interstate level?
Maybe it's cool to defraud the companies that produce the itemin the first place?
I guess it's cool to rip off people, companies and others, just because they "have"more that you?
