I tried to use a Lowes coupon at Home Depot

I never had an issue ever using a Lowes coupon at Home Depot.

First, the Lowes coupon is legitimate, I received it when I moved from southern to central CA.

Anyhow it is a general 10 percent off coupon. When I showed it to the cashier she had to call her manager and the manager had to call the general manager. (This process took a considerable amount of time)

Conclusion
They said my coupon is too general. If it was a 10 percent coupon for a specific item then they would have allowed it.

I just dont get it. Anyhow, this is wierd. Or maybe is this Home Depot's policy outside Southern CA.

Any thoughts?

I walked out because I don't think most HDs treat their customer's this way.

use the damn coupon at where they were meant to be used and you wouldn't have that problem.

i have used HD coupons at lowes without a problem, and vice versa. overall though, i'd say everything at lowes is better. stores are nicer, people are more knowledgable, and the customer service is much better.

Lowes and HD have suffered from coupon abuse. Our HD wont take Lowes coupons but Lowes will sometimes take HD coupons. They will no longer take the 20% HD employee coupons because people made thousands of copies....dammit!
