Long lines out way out the doors of my school voting place around 11:30am. In non-Presidential years I've always been able to waltz right in. My spot serves two districts, and I was the 729th to vote in my district. Seems to presage a healthy turn out. When I first voted here, which was in 2000, you didn't need ID. Or maybe just I didn't, because I live just down the street, and the person logging me in was a neighbor who knew me. Somewhere in the last 3-4 elections, that's changed.

The 'Pubs had two tables outside to the Dems just one. Maybe it's always been that way and I just never noticed. This is a long-time majority Republican area, though that may be changing somewhat. Most of the 'Pubs are of the non-deplorable sort, in my experience, though it gets more rural north and west of me, and in spots all around, and through the years, I've seem some crazy home-made, right-wing signs.

I noticed all of the volunteers helping people find their right line and such were 'Pubs. They were, as I would have expected, truly friendly and overtly non-partisan.

I hit the straight Dem ticket, something I've never done before, that I can remember. That almost felt like giving in to me, but there you are. Or rather, there I was.

The one ballot question was whether to reduce the mandatory age of retirement for judges from 75 to 70, I voted NO. GEEZER POWER!!

Seriously, while I understand the "throw the old guard out" energy, humans these days regularly retain their faculties through age 75 and each candidate, no matter their age or length of service, should be judged on their record or what you know of their temperament, not some otherwise arbitrary and outdated metric, even if it is loaded down with shallow, ersatz populist feels, you fusking wet behind the ears whippersnappers!! :colbert@age65icon:

Dunno, I left all the judge slots blank on mine since I'm not sure how to educate myself on judge voting.
Depends how independent you are. Both parties typically put out recommendations that align basically with the parties platform/ideals. Otherwise you should be able to do some googling unless they are newbies with no track record.

I wrote in my dog.
Voted ~10:15 PST. There were 8 polling kiosks and people were waiting for people in them to depart. I just went in the backroom and filled out my ballot from my sample ballot, fed the vote tallying robot, got my sticker (it's on my shirt for the gym this afternoon) and split, hit the library and my fave produce market.

Just voted in NJ shortly after 4pm. There was a respectable line but nothing crazy. First time voting in this city - it's a heavily democratic urban area.

I live in a mostly rural county with low population (the entire county population is less than half the population of the town I work in, which still isn't a big town) so I'm not sure if it's worth much fuss... but I'm always registered non-partisan/independent.

I got in at 0600, walked out around 0655. I've never seen a polling place so packed, especially so early.

Just for you Hay:
That's awesome!

I figure that the sky isn't going to fall regardless who wins. Since no one likes Trump but Trumpites, whatever he does will have little support. Besides, I don't think he can stay in legal bounds and then someone else few like will take his place if he's removed from office. At least at that point we're a bit less suicidal as a nation

If Zip happens to win she has assured me that she'll seek the best minds and people of good will to get us back to a more rational and competent government regardless of party considerations. She holds with more of a meritocracy than crony appointments and she has never once lied to me

On a more serious note we live in interesting times, no?

I figure he will rubber stamp whatever Congress brings to him and they will rubber stamp whatever he proposes. The GOP will own whatever happens, though. Can't blame Democrats anymore. The main thing that concerns me is the SCOTUS. Oh well.

Yes, and now I understand why the Chinese consider that a curse. Sure, the sky isn't going to fall - but it may get uncomfortably low. lol

SCOTUS is actually the only comfort I find in this. No "positive rights" will be created in the next four years. Otherwise I find myself in exactly the same position I went to bed expecting, save for dropping one little letter:
Well, I hope he isn't as bad as I am sure he will be.

"May you live in interesting times." does not have a Chinese origin...
