All hobbys are ultimatly a waste of time, but I personally would avoid MMORPGs. In my experience, they arn't designed for casual play which means you'll be gimped compared to the other players, or it will consume you.

My thoughts exactly. If you aren't playing at least 15-20 hours a week you'll never get anything done. You can't just go out and raid, you'll always be farming something during your free time, whether its gold or rep or trade goods or honor points or useless skills like cooking and fishing. It gets to be more like a job than a game, complete with schedules (raid schedules), nagging bosses (guild leadership), and weekend work (farming).

I'll admit the game can be incredibly fun at times, but I absolutely despise all the stupid time sinks that they've built into the game.

I used to play WoW, a year or so ago, then quit.

9 months ago I started dating this girl.. then found out a bunch of my friends were playing and I started craving it.

I downloaded WoWGlider, and now my computer plays WoW for me all day. I'm almost lvl 60 since my char grinds all day for me... So instead of craving WoW when I'm working or with my gf, I am just pleased to know I'm technically grinding all the time. Then, when I do have free time, I can run instances.

It's the best of both worlds!

lmao...you paid $25 for that? i hope you get caught, and you will eventually. so you paid for WoW, you pay monthly, and paid $25 for that program only to be banned from the game.

Yes. Instead of sitting on my ass for 9 hours per day, just so I can lose my girlfriend and my job, I payed $25 bucks.

That $25 will save me thousands in the long run, considering I'm at work all day instead of getting fired.

Now I have a lvl 60 char which I never even had to play, so suck it, HAHAHAHA JEALOUS

I bet part of those 7 million think it is the most overrated game ever to be produced.

I think its a turd, and i've never played one minute of it, just seen friends waste countless hours on it.

Yeah, that's why I can't stop playing. I KNEW IT! I don't actually enjoy it, I just can't stop doing things that are overrated!!!

Idiot. There are millions of people playing. I'm sorry, but that's not because it's overrated.

you have a level 60 character in terrible gear that you don't know how to play...

i'm definitely jealous of that.

What do you care how he spends his money? He hasn't been banned yet, and even if he never uses it again, I'd bet it's been worth it. Personally, I have quite a bit of disposable income, so $25 is more than worth it to me. Am I afraid of getting caught and banned? Yes. But I would still consider the program.

I have 4 characters I play - 60, 50, 28, and 20. I have spent a lot of time getting guys up to the level I want, but that doesn't mean that - especially after the expansion comes out - I wouldn't like to move some of the others through with a little less effort.

That's not a problem... he's been saving money like crazy and can buy most of what he needs for gear. Plus, speaking from my experience, leveling doesn't help in learning how to play a character. I have played my 60 Shammy for a long time, and I still am a terrible noob in raid dungeons because I haven't played them a lot. I also know that it's going to take a LONG time before I can tank with my warrior effectively, even though I've leveled him from 1 to 50 so far.

It's your choice. If your GF plays as well and likes it you both can play casually.

I've had 60s before. I know how to play. Getting gear is easy, but wasting weeks to get to 60 seems stupid to me after you do it once, so I didn't want to do it again.

And no, I did not get banned, and I won't. I paid $25 for a program to get me to 60, thats all I wanted, and it worked--perfectly.

QFT, raiding can kill the WoW experience. Lvls 1-60 was fun is because I could play the game whenever I wanted. When I began raiding, there were scheduled times I had to show up for 3-4x a week, which really sucked the fun out of the game. Yah, and farming for gold to pay the repair bills isn't a whole lot of fun, either. And let's not get started on the puny purple drop rates...Science H Logic...

Just say no to raiding!

One day I'll explain subjectivity to you.

If you enjoy it, then more power to you. For the life of me, I can't understand the appeal. Everyone that I know that plays the game, seems to keep playing simply because they've sunk so much time into it. They gripe constantly about it. Why I can't enjoy such breathtakingly deep quests as "Collect 10 sticks" and "Walk over there", I'll never know.

WoW in moderation is very fun. Some people think just because you pay $15 a month means you have to play 5 hours a night. I work, am married, play other computer games, and play hockey a lot. Yet, I still find time to play and even raid 1 night a week. Its a lot of fun. The game is a blast if you play it in moderation.

I play an average of 10-12 hours a week, and that is on a good week. Some weeks I play only 4-5. Yet, even with this schedule, I still have 3 level 60s in over 2 years of playing, and I am leveling up a Rogue. Its a blast to play the different characters and have some fun.

My recommendation, look at why you left the game. If you feel like firing up your account for a month or two, then do so. If you get sick of it, then you can drop it again. No biggie.
