I want a 6800GT AGP 256mb

I've been looking around for a 6800gt forever now, Newegg has removed most of them from their listing and the only 2 left are now out of stock.

There's a bunch on froogle but they all look really crappy.

Now is Monarchcomputer.com a good site?
Because I found an XFX card there.
I don't really want to have to get it off ebay, but that may be the case. Oh yea, I'm not buying it for more than $300.

Check the FS/FT forum here for people upgrading to PCI-E / 7800GT. I'd suggest only buying used from people with high Heatware since they're more likely to be honest about any overclocking.

Monarch is OK, the main complaint is sometimes listing backordered items as in stock and being slow to ship.

Other good choices if the egg is out are ZipZoomFly and Mwave.com

Thats because of people like me who cling to AGP as long as possible. We are buying up all the best AGP cards.
As said before, check out Anandtechs For Sale Forum. Plenty of folks have made the switch and are looking to offload their AGP cards.

Also, Pricewatch.com has generally been pretty good to me.
Pricegrabber.com is pretty shady, unless you buy from a major retailer. And they charge full price.
I'm sure CompUSA, Best Buy and Circuit City have what you need, but you'll be paying full retail and I guess you wanted to avoid that.

EDIT: I just checked pricewatch, they have plenty of listings for AGP 6800GT's but they start at $324. Is that what you were thinking of paying?

Thanks guys, I found a Leadtek one on tigerdirect for a decent price. I'm having some last thoughts though, I looked at the ATI x800XL and it looks like it's as good as the 6800gt if not better, and it's way cheaper. I play CS:S, DOD:S, and BF2, hopefully I'll be buying farcry soon. What do you guys think?

edit: It's almost as if buying a PCI-E mobo and a PCI-E card will be cheaper than sticking with AGP...but yeah, I'm stickign with AGP too for as long as possible.

i know the x800xl is a little slower than my x800xtpe, but i love it and it works with bf2 great.

I wouldnt pay more than $250 for an AGP based card. Anymore and I would drop the extra dime for a pci-e mobo. For $330 you can have 7800gt. So for about $400 all together you could have better graphics and a modern chipset. I'm sure you have already thought about that though. Keep in mind that I really doubt the 6800 or x800 will be able to push 16x12 resolutions when the new fall games come out.

d00d, the X800XL is your friend!

There's also some killer deals on the X800XTs floating around i believe.

Don't buy into the SM 3.0 hype.

The 6800GT is a great card; i know, i had one.

But there are better deals out there.

Newegg has a DFI infinity board for $75, it uses a vanilla Nforce 4 chipset and has PCI-E and socket 754 cpu support. Asus also has something similiar but for $92. If the GTO2's were still $200, the DFI board and a GTO2 would be a faster solution than the 6800GT.

Yep good call, I forgot about the gto2. The beauty of this solution is that it would be faster and about the same price as getting a 6800gt.
