I was recently given a GameBoy Advance SP and I like it (I really like the platform games EX: Mario) but not much else (Except Sonic the Hedgehog)

Also how do I determine which GBA SP model I have (The Model/Serial Sticker is gone (()) No "I" did not steal it

I was thinking about buying either a used NDS or a PSP

I am leaning toward the NDS but what can the PSP do and what are its platform games

I also am really not into the 3D Crap (I watched one 3D movie and it made me sick (I have Bad Eyes)

Well you can turn the 3D off on the 3DS. Every game will be played fine without the 3D. Me personally even though I'm a hardcore gamer I'd still choose a DS of any kind (DSi/Lite/3D) over a PSP. There are good games on PSP but with the new one potentially coming out later this year or early next year, you're not going to get long term support if you get a current PSP.

I would go DS lite. Cheap, but still improves the original 1st gen model. The DSi also removed the GBA slot so if you wanted to play GBA games still you'd need a DS lite.

If you're into hacking/homebrew definitely get the PSP. However, if you're into the 1st party Nintendo games like Mario then the choice should be obvious.

I second Joseph F. The psp version 2000 and under are fully hacked. It can be hacked to play mame roms, and arcade roms for emulation purposes. The NDS has a fair share of games. But, not as powerful as the PSP. The choice and type of games is your choice however, like what zerocool said, the psp will have its days, and its days are slowly coming to an end, for a new system to shine. They probably wont support it anymore soon enough.

You should look at what games are available for each and see which one has games you're more interested in.

DS has some good games. Pheonix wright series, Pokemon, Mario Kart

I don't have psp but I think it has Tekken 5?, a GTA game, metal gear

Save up $300+ for the PSP2 NGP:

If you get a DS:

Do you want to play your old GBA games? If yes, buy DS lite. If no, get DSi

If you can turn off the "backlight" completely using the button at the top middle then you've got an older front lit GameBoy Advance SP. If it only selects between two different brightness levels you've got the newer backlit model.

I'd recommend getting a Nitendo DS Lite over any of the other Nintendo handhelds. The DSi has a camera you'll probably never use, and as previously mentioned can't play GBA games. The 3DS doesn't have any 2D platform games, and isn't likely to get many. The only alternative that might make sense is the DSi XL which is bigger and has larger screen, but is otherwise identical to the DSi.

??? 3DS has every DS platform title the other DSes have because it plays their games.

You could get a PSP and buy Little Big Planet. Then you could make levels that kinda looks like its from Mario. lol

Just have a look at the available games for each systems. Also helps if you can give us an idea of the type of games you like to play. The DS has a number of good platformers available for it, while the PSP doesnt have as many (at least not 2D platformers). So, if you like Sonic games, get a DS.

I've had a DS Lite for a few years, its provided me with some great gaming experience. Large library of games available now, a lot of them quite cheap. I also have a DSi. If I were you, whether to buy a DSi or DS Lite would depend largely on the price. If you want to play GBA games on your DS, then get a DS Lite. If not, and the DSi is reasonably priced, then get a DSi. I dont think its possible to get a DS Lite brand new anymore, I could be wrong though.

As for platform games, look out for the Megaman games, like Megaman Zero and Megaman ZX. They can be punishingly hard though. There is a DS game that includes all four Megaman Zero games, which were GBA games.

Obviously I was refering to the lack of 2D platform "native" 3DS games. There's no point in him buying the the much more expensive 3DS if all he wants to play are traditional 2D platform games.

There's the DSi XL with a bigger screen as well. It's nice if you've got large hands, the DS lite can be a bit cramped.

Don't forget the PSP can emulate most consoles, so you have the SNES/Genesis library for your 2D platformers. The DS can emulate them as well, but the screen resolution is lower which makes the graphics look a bit weird.
