I thought money was no object?

Our recent holiday in London cost half of what they want for a spot. There's spending money, and then wiping your ass with hundred dollar bills for the sake of it.

Hey Brigden,
I would also recommend the acura RL, it is roomy, very luxurious and very comfortable. It's also quite powerfull and very smooth. It has a great AWD system for our winters and it's quite reliable. oh and it's not as big as people may think. It does cost quite a bit of money though, but since money is no object, I think it's a good deal. As for the FX, I really love the looks, but i thinks it's quite a harsh ride, other than that, it's quite a cool car (I wouldn't buy it for myself though).
I suggest you check them out though.

If you can afford any car in the world, you can afford any car in the world except for the very highest end exotics and a $10k parking space.

My theories:

1) You're not buying a new car, but you think it'd be fun to pretend you could buy anything you wanted and you felt like asking about it.

2) You're not buying a new car, your rich parents are buying it for you as a christmas present, but they're not going to buy you a parking space.

Love the FX45. Cayenne S is pretty nice too. You should have no problem driving either one in the winter. I hear Porsche actually is pretty good for winter, all things considered.

Aston Martin Vanquish
Maserati Spider
Ferrari 575 Maranello
Ferrar 360 Modeon
Porsche 911 Turbo

All fine choice since money is no object

Well, I agree that the Cayenne is a porshe bastardization, and an ugly one at that, but more importantly - I'd be concerned about the reliability. Porsches aren't exactly known for being reliable vehicles - they aren't especially known for being UN-reliable, but you are paying for the name and the performance - not the lack of maintenance. Perhaps more importantly, if you don't live near a porshe DEALER you may be SOL when something goes wrong.. whereas with a more common brand you'll have little trouble getting service.

(it's all relative, but if I were making a road trip across the US in my new car, I'd feel much more comfortable driving an infinity/acura/lexus then I would in a porsche, since I'd assume I'd rarely be too far from a dealer that could work on it.

That, or the FX35/FX45 which I know is available in AWD now. The FX is either a love it or hate it design, but I think it probably solves all of your criteria and has the advantage of being moderately more capable in the winter due to higher ground clearance etc. It's a pretty nice ride, has enough room to be survivable for 4 people although it's ideal for 2, and is well made overall. I don't know anything about the FX45 engine, but the 35 uses essentially the same 3.5 liter that nissan is putting into everything these days, so there are no worries of dealers not being able to fix it etc.

We can buy parking here, but the price they want is disgusting.

The FX is the car the woman wants and we're going to have a look at it this weekend. I like it, but I don't know...

I know a few people who own FX35s/45s and AFAIK they are all happy with them. My girlfriend actually RENTED one at Enterprise rent a car the other week - for something absurdly cheap like $35 a day - you might want to look into that. Good opportunity to spend the weekend with the car before buying.

I didn't get to spend much time in it but the fit and finish seemed good, the warranty is respectable (4/48) and while I think it's a tad pricy, if you are looking for an all around good vehicle, it's got potential.

It is NOT what I would call a real SUV... it looks big on the outside but I think that's all due to the height of the hood. Inside it isn't cramped, but I didn't feel like I had a lot more room than in your average large sedan... but then again, didn't sound like you were looking for an SUV so ?? take a look.

Thanks a lot, flot, for your informative replies.

Personally, I don't want an SUV, but unfortunately, our winter weather dictates our choices. Especially, considering that our cottage is impossible to get to in a sports car during the winter.

We're going to look at the Infiniti FX, the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Mercedes Benz ML500 and (maybe) the G55 AMD.

I still want a Carerra S.[/quote]

I drove a ML320 for the first 2 years of having my license and my father has an ML500. I enjoyed driving both a lot and they definitely look nice inside and out. The ML320 being the low end one wasn't near as much fun as the ML500 obviously, but that thing was a blast. The ML500 is a QUICK SUV. Anyways, even if you think you might be set on the FX, definitely give the ML a look.
