I want to get a Presler.

I can get the 840D to 3.850 Ghz both cores Prime stable full load at 65degrees.

Idle at 47 Degrees.

BTW, this is a Asus P5LD2-VM too.

Good luck ! You can have them. See my post in stevety's thread. We did this together, and its not a pretty picture. The only way to get them over 4 ghz, is a $200 mobo, and even at 4.26 they can just stay with(or loose) to an X2@2600 which can be done on a $80 mobo and AIR.

Umm, i just sent a PM with how to get the P5LD2 to go over 222 mhz.

I had the same issue with the 840D. If he does it it might be nice to him. And this is some sweet air cooling, how many ppl you know can hit 3.8 with the 840D and not cross 65degrees.

No, you dont',

What you really want is a Conroe in the fall

Presler is a dying breed, about to go way of the dinasaurs near the K-T boundary.

I will get Conroe, but i like to play with everything...

In a couple of months, people will be selling their Preslers in droves, finding out what's around the corner, by then you will probably be able to get one cheap.

LOL, well, 3.85 is still respectable for 2 cores on my home theater PC. If I can get one cheap i will buy one...

The suggestion worked. Setting the PCIe to 110 got me to 245mhz FSB, 115 got me to 255mhz FSB, and setting to 120 got me to post at 265mhz FSB, 3.7ghz, but the bios screen is garbled a bit, but I am using the onboard graphics, so maybe with my PCI video card it won't do that. Motherboard still won't let me set the FSB to anything beyond 265mhz, and I would need 300mhz to get 4.2ghz. At 3.7ghz I am getting 40c in the bios, with the stock Intel heatsink.

Ok, well the PCI video card still doesn't like windows XP, so used my PCIe 6200TC..booted in to windows at 260mhz FSB 3.64ghz, 1.475v, PCIe @118mhz, DDR2-533 @520mhz. Idling at 35c with the stock heatsink, although I don't have it in a case right now.

EDIT: so far 100% stable. I am running autoGK, and getting load temps of 55-57c so far with with stock heatsink. I chose autoGK over prime95, because on my P5P800-SE @3.45ghz, dual prime95 was running with no trouble, but as soon as I tried running autoGK, the system would reboot.

Running 100% stable at 3.7ghz. I'm now limited by the motherboard again, since it won't let me set it higher than 265mhz FSB. At 3.7ghz it has now pulled ahead of my X2 in autoGK.

Had to set the PCIe to 110mhz to get to 245mhz FSB, 115mhz got me to 256mhz FSB, and 120mhz allowed me to max out at 265mhz FSB. The onboard video got garbled at 115mhz PCIe, but my 6200TC runs fine at 120mhz PCIe.

Well I can't say that I understand why, I haven't had to do this on any other motherboard. But as long as it works, I'm not gonna complain.

I would be worried about instability of your PCI-E graphics card with the bus running that much over spec... but I dont know anything about Intels, so correct me if I am wrong.

i wonder how the revision C preslers will do in comparison the the revision B ones?. Supposedly all the thermal monitoring stuff will cut power consumption from 130 to 95W, but will that mean they can overclock better, or just that you can use cheaper heatsinks? Also, i don't know much about how these power saving techniques work, in order to save power do they end up hurting performace?

They will have lower consumption at idle. Because of this Intel can drop the "Typical" Design Power but this does not mean that they'll use less power at load.
