I want better 3DMark 2001 Scores!

This sucks...

The first time I ran it I got around and 8500; now I ran it and got 8068. What the hell...my system rocks...I should be getting WAY better scores than this. I have a friend who has way worse of a system than me and gets higher scores. Here check out my rig and tell me i shouldnt get any higher than 8000.

What can I do to increse my score by quite a bit? Any tweaking tips? What am I doing wrong?

Okay now I got 7998 for a score. This is ridiculous. I need some tips with tweaking

3dmark is stupid. why are people so obsessed with getting high bench marks? is your system actually visibally suffering in realtime usage? if so, THEN you should be concerned. 3dmark is just another benchmark that often doesnt correlate into high performance.

Very true... if you games are smooth and stable go have some fun. Don't worry if you benchmarks a few points behind others. To make you feel better... my 3DMark2001 is 3700. Radeon 7500 and a Duron 750@1000 Mhz... Runs all my games fine and stable...

If you break 8000 you have a pretty nice system. Especially if you haven't done any tweaks or overclocked.

isn't 3DMark 2001 optimized for GeForce3 video cards? if that's the case then your Radeon might be why your scores are like they are (not that the Radeon is bad, just that 3DMark 2001 is dumb for being optimized for GeForce3's).

i could be wrong though.

I got a 6349 score with a retail speed of 275/275 and at 230/230 i got 6180 or so.

AMD 1ghz Tbird 266FSB
256 DDR
MSI K7T266

And on top of that i couldn't get Windows XP to stay stable. Any type of drivers i tried i got lockups.

So I RMA Mine at newegg today, and bought a Gainward GF3 for $180.

My system, a p3 750@930 and Geforce3 Ti200 gets around ~4400 - lower that other systems around it, but its good enough. Using Windows XP.

No offense but I think the low 8000 range is exactly where that system lies.

You should be proud of your score.
