I'd like to have a glass top desk that worked as a monitor/tablet. I could use to look at blueprints, and easily use a scale on it. Could do a lot of cool stuff actually. Have a touchpad area for the main monitors, hot spots for launching programs, a popup full size keyboard...

I remember when MS came out with the Surface (different version than the tablet), it was basically a coffee table tablet. Had some really neat features like it could even interact with drinks (detect temperature changes at specific places on the glass). Too bad it was like 15 grand and most likely super proprietary. I don't think it ever left the concept stage though and never saw the light of day. Would definitely be neat for drafting and other similar tasks.

Long ago. I switched to a 2H Tourquoise woody. I kept breaking my mechanicals in the field, and I like sharpening it with a knife.

Wood pencils are great. I can pull one out, and tell at a glance whether or not it'll write. If it won't, I can make it write in a couple seconds. I can make it write great in about 20 seconds.

I remember that. It probably didn't have wide appeal, but for certain niches, it could be a great tool.
