much prefer keyboard + mouse interface, a nice 4k 42inch display would work as a good monitor though, but I think I'd still prefer to use my 1080p projector at 106 inches over anything small like that.

Articles says £597, so currently about $767. A bargain since a iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd Gen. (256gb) retails for $799.99.

Wow yea thats not bad whats under the hood CPU and GPU? guess I should read the article..

You guys for real? Look at the date.

Touche.

The local mall replaced the old "you are here" maps with 30-something inch tablets. There are also large interactive touch screen kiosks in several local businesses and the airport.

I bought a 20" tablet for use as a music stand, but it crashed a lot so I returned it and haven't gotten around to replacing it yet.

If somebody actually produced a 42" tablet, it would sell.

While that is cool, I prefer a PC with a normal PC operating system (such as Linux) and keyboard + mouse. For portability, I would prefer a laptop that also has a normal PC operating system. I don't find myself in enough situations where I would need one though so for the few things I may want to do on the go my phone works fine. But if I did, I'd get a laptop and not a tablet.

Though not portable, the Surface Studio is very much like a giant tablet.

Nice 370 in the background. Rotors look a little rusty, wonder how long its been parked there?

EDIT -

Thats a wyse thin client under that monitor, I have a borderline unreasonable hatred for those things.

Just curious to know, what's wrong with them? I remember demoing them for work back when I was a sysadmin and thought they were a cool idea though did not get to play with them much. Basically a Raspberry Pi but more powerful (I think?) and that can run a x86 OS. I never got to see that deployment though, if it ever happened. They were looking at going with a VDI setup. I kinda felt bad for the level 2 guy though, because he would have lost his job if they went with that.

I guess it will fit in with the growing trend for sites to change the way they look to fit mobile devices. Youtube currently looks about as ugly as I've ever seen it as it is now mobile-friendly only as they must believe only mobile users view their site. Shit-in equals shit-out and that outputting shit will look great on your 42" mobile device.

I guess my issue isnt so much the hardware, but rather the backend that the hardware connects to. It was incredibly unstable, and if you had a class of 30 students that needed to sign on, you would have to stagger them 5 - 10 at a time. I was not the person who set them up initially though, so maybe our issues were self inflicted, but there wasnt a single tear shed by anyone once we told them were going to replace them with real computers/chromeboxes.

Oh I see, yeah I imagine such environment is tricky to setup. It's also not really fit for all types of uses.

I'd like to have a glass top desk that worked as a monitor/tablet. I could use to look at blueprints, and easily use a scale on it. Could do a lot of cool stuff actually. Have a touchpad area for the main monitors, hot spots for launching programs, a popup full size keyboard...
