Choppers...*yawn*.

Now this is a bike....Turbine Powered Baby!!

Check out the HP/torque figures...those put most cars to shame. Granted, it's not very streetable, but then again, almost no moto making those kinda figures would be.

Pretty nice.
Unfortunately it'll have the same oil-leaking, excessive rattling, "potato-potato" sound that every other big twin has as well. Buy a Softtail and get a custom guy to pound out a custom tank and add some paint for half the price.

Sorry, I'm a HUGE non-sportbike disliker.
Now HERE'S what you need. Dial in as much hp as you need.

Do you guys realize the craftsmanship that went into that chopper? I don't know if you have seen the TLC documentary on Jesse James from West Coast Choppers, but the guy is amazing. All the body work on that bike is hand made, the pipes are hand made. He takes a flat piece of metal and makes the tank, smoothing it on on an english wheel.

$65,000 for something that would get spanked buy any $8,000 600cc sportbike, or a $3,000 used 600cc sportbike!

My parents where at Street Vibrations in Reno last week, and they said they saw Jesse James there, riding up and down the street on a new bike, with a new type of exhaust he is making now. A little pricey though. My dad liked he Hell bent pipes, but those things are $1000! I bet these new ones are around the same.

That is not why you buy a bike like that. My dad has a Harley that can't keep up with my much cheaper Buell sportbike, but he doesn't care. He didn't buy his bike to go fast and race on the street.

Sorry, I couldn't resist ripping on a cruiser as I'm a sportybike kinda guy myself... I'd be nicer if you guys would just wave back on the highway....sheesh.

In all seriousness tho, I do have to admit that he make some very clean-looking bikes. I much prefer his look to the chromed-to-hell with leather fringy stuff look prevalent on most cruisers. The less crap showing the better IMHO.

There was an article a while back in Cycle World on his stuff and this bike in particular was one that even I wouldn't mind having in the stable.

I don't know, my dad didn't go into detail. But, those aren't the pipes. Those are the hell bent pipes, the new ones are longer, but still have that cool look.

Ya, I know, they are not made to go fast, but how come the first thing people do is put on Screaming Eagle this and S&S that? They just must be to slow to ride stock I guess.

THE shiznit.

Nice, but no more. Harley has unfortunetly stopped the VR1000 racing program. I was hoping they would let the Buell division take it over.
>>

I know but there's gotta be a couple laying around somewhere, I *WANT* one! I prefer dirt bikes, but if I was going to buy a street bike, I'd want a sport bike, and as far as I know that's the only sport bike Harley ever made. They're saaaweeet!

Fast in a straight line, and fast through the twisties is two different things. Sport bikes are designed to do both, a harley can be made to do one of those. A lot of people who ride harley's still like to stand on the throttle off a light, and know they have some power, but they aren't interested in laying the bike down through corners. Straight line speed is a hell of lot different than a tossable bike that handles great. You can build a V-twin harley that will keep up or out accelerate a lot of sport bikes, but they aren't going to beat them in handling, because they aren't meant for that.

To me, a bike is a bike. No matter what you ride, you are a fellow motorcycle rider.

There are some, but very few. Harley made a *very* small production run of the VR1000 when they started the race bike program, but it didn't last for long.

I agree, but the funny thing is, I wave at everyone on a bike. I would say 1 in 5 Harley Riders wave back, but 1 in 5 riders of other bike riders don't wave.

What do you ride?

Me for the road: '01 Suzuki Bandit 1200s
For the Dirt: '00 Suzuki DRZ400
