I want to buy Intel i7 4770k at 199$

I live in India. And here the price of this chip is Rs 25000(INR). Which is quite steep. I heard that microcenter sold it for 199$ just a month back. I have a cousin that lives in New Jersey near New York.

So, maybe I can get him to go to microcenter to buy it for me.
But, that offer is not available now. I need to know when do they usually release such offers and does the Intel processor warranty is covered in India as well. In case something does go wrong.

Is there any thread where I can check for there latest offers. I cannot check there online site as it have been blocked here in India.

I am open to those deals on other legitimate sites as well.
I can still wait for 1 or 2 months for that kind of offer if there is a possibility of that.

I am also looking at amd 8320 which can be had for 100$ only(which is a great offer) and @amd 7850k which would be around 129$. Although, I would be upgrading to discrete graphic card in the future after this upgrade. Once I would again have the budget.
So, would a 7850k be worth it over amd 8320?

I have also read on this site that the chipset which the AMD 8320 supports, is quite old and won't support latest features.

I dont want to go over 200$ for a CPU until it's Intel 4770k.

I only upgrade my computer every 5-6 yrs only. So, I want to save for the video card.

Yes, there is a dedicated discussion topic here in Anandtech, called "Hot Deals."

I believe there was recently a post there for the 4770 for $249, maybe a few days ago? But anyway, keep an eye open there for sales.

slickdeals.net is generally a good source for spotting those deals right away as well.

Question I have is why you are honed in on a 4770k? For games?
i5-4670k is going to be a better budget option there with basically identical performance across majority of titles.

Also how would you plan on getting the card from US to India. One way or another it's going to pass through customs and likely be taxed...so you should figure out if you would still even be getting a good deal.

I wanted the 4770k because it supposed to be the best in everything. And would probably last atleast 5-6 yrs which is the time that I take for an upgrade.
Although, you are right about tge 4670k as well. I just wanted the best offer. And after looking at microcenter 199$ I now have the impression that it might not be impossible to get such a deal. And I have no problem in waiting for 2 more months for a good deal if needed.

Actually, my cousins would be visiting india in march. So, I would get him to bring it with him. As far as customs are concerned. Then I think they do allow certain items for personal use without the box. So, it shouldn't be difficult to get clearance.

Fortunately microcenter is within approchable range from him. I would say that you people are quite lucky for having such a company in your country.

I will subscribe to that thread right a way. Yes the 4770k is aroubd 249$. Is there any chance of it getting around 199$ as it was at microcenter last month. Actually, 200$ is on the upper side for me. Still 4770k would last many years. So, I am willing to take the risk. I do want to save for the graphic card though.

It was pre black friday (87 days ago) when the $199 price was active for a few days.

It's not going to happen any time soon til something forces the skew down or BF comes around again.

yeah $199 isn't likely to happen soon on 4770k and is very rare, there's really no big sale events typically in next couple of months.

Lowest it's been at Microcenter recently is $249.99. I doubt we'll see that $199.99 deal again anytime soon. No reason for them to price it that low.

Honestly, if you don't upgrade more than every 5 years or so the price difference up front is negligible.

It's now $249.99 at Microcenter as some have mentioned.

You can get Staples to price match it (and deliver it) easily if your cousin doesn't live near a Microcenter

I bet you do, as do a legion of others.

I heard that microcenter sold it for 199$ just a month back.

That was a one-off sale as others have mentioned. Doubt it's coming back anytime soon. And I guess you'd never be satisfied by a $179 i5 4670k, which I doubt you'd ever notice a performance difference with its use vs. a 4770k. C'est la vie. Guess life is going to suck for you, then.

I understand you don't want to pay more than $200 for a CPU. As a matter of fact, I usually don't like to pay more than $100 for a CPU or a video card. But that line made me laugh. I'd like a 12 inch pizza for $5 but I doubt I'll get it.

In any case, you can always wait several months. Prices can either creep down or be replaced by something more powerful at a lower cost.

Just like and follow Microcenter's FB page and sometime they give coupon codes... I was able to get a i5-3550k for $135 when that CPU first came out... Also Little Ceasar's sell large pizzas for $5 :biggrin:

Ok, I have been searching through various offers and finally ended up with some shortlisted items.

Xeon E3 1230V2 for 200$ at microcenter. But the thing that I need to know is that, I want to use it in personal computer for gaming and all. I have no intention for usage as a server.
So, in case I go for it. Would I need to buy any special component like Ram or motherboard. Also, apart from no integrated graphics what other shortcomings would it have over Intel i7 4770 or i7 3770?

Would there be a compatibility problem as well with other software and hardware.

OP, so this CPU runs about $400 USD in India? Wow, was under the impression that the cost of living was pretty low in India ... but PCs and CPUs are not "necessities" I guess.

I'd say that'd be an exaggeration, more like 350ish but not below 300$ unless you're smuggling it from South East Asia

Now as far as the OP is concerned I'd say that it's not worth the hassle to import something like PC components cause eventually you'll need warranty/replacement & seeing as how these things were skimming on import duties I doubt you'll get any support if/when you run into trouble !

The E3-1230 v2 seems like a pretty decent deal actually if you're trying to get 8 threads. Downside is you cannot overclock and it has slightly lower stock/turbo freq.

Here's a comparison between i7-3770k,i7-4770k and E3-1230 v2

http://ark.intel.com/compare/65523,75123,65732

You wouldn't need ECC memory, you should be able to drop it in a consumer 1155 board if you did not want to utilize that feature.

R0H1T I wouldn't expect any issues on a CPU which is what he's trying to get- those seem to be pretty rare unless you mess up your install and bend the pins.
