I want to cry...

My T2 Fitted Drake worth about 80 million just got popped by a Rat. I got a urgent call to go somewhere, and I forgot to log off as I was AFK ratting.

I came back, I was 15 million richer and floating in 00 in my Pod.

Even if I can replace it in less than 3 days, I still want to cry. That was my second Drake that I popped and I did it stupidly.

It happens to everyone. I lost a Nighthawk in a mission once because I'd forgotten I was scrambled... I almost lost a carrier because I was screwing around undocked from station, and some guy in a dread undocked and bumped me 3km off the station. The dread goes into siege, his buddies in a damnation and an apoc web me and they all start pounding away. I was able to redock just about as my tank was failing... That was fun

That sucks.

Happened to my corp mate, only he was in a brand new Recon. Ouch.

Thats what I like about EVE, when you pop someone else's ship, especially an expensive one you get the satisfaction of seeing him hurt

They really need to think about the bumping ships tactic. It just doen't make any sense in a space environment. These aren't bumper cars, they're space ships.

I miss Eve lately, especially now that I have my new 24inch monitor. But alas I sold my 40+ mill skill point char to a corp-mate.

I didnt get past the free trial. Game was too complex and difficult for my liking. Beautiful graphics though. That bump ship tactic does sound kinda lame to me.

I keep coming back to game, but get bored. I want to like it but keep getting "burned out" trying it out. I kinda wish even would let you trade accounts for real cash or something in game. Kinda expand on that "open economy" notion they rave about

Yeah, I played for about 6 hours before I fell off the learning curve.

That's why I pirate.

1) To see the pain-hatemail is nice
2) To pvp
3) To make isk

It's perfect.
If EVE wasn't hard there wouldn't be a point in playing heh.

You can sell characters for in game currency on the official forums. I'd imagine they would need to have several million skillpoints for anyone to consider buying though.

I loved EvE. I played through the tutorial, some friends donated a few mil ISK to me, and then I quit. I quit because I felt as though the $15 a month was too steep, especially because it would be a long time before my skills were good enough that I could enter PvP. It would have been nice if I had joined a good corp I guess.

That's not true at all actually. You don't really need the best skills for pvp. Frigate pvp is still alive. Engage even when you will probably, it's a cheap loss. You'll be surprised.

Me too. I just subscribed for the third time and immediately got bored. I just can't stand grinding missions/etc anymore (to buy equipment) when there are so many other things to do. Don't let the off-line skill training fool you. This is a game that requires a lot of time commitment. You still need to "earn" your "money". But I suppose that's just the nature of the MMORPG genre.

Its funny because i stopped playing as soon as i got the game figured out. Im just not an mmo kind of guy. The First corp i joined was just starting out, so all i did for the 3 days before the corp crumbled was mine ore, jettison cargo, mine ore, jettison cargo, and oh jump. I know it takes time, but im not willing to take any game that seriously.

The concept is awesome, and since Im a huge sc-fi nerd the whole space based thing really appealed to me. Unfortunately, there is more dead time in eve than playing time. I couldnt help but feel like I was just wasting my time.

I will say though, that out of all the mmos ive played, Eve would be my choice if i had nothing else to do.

indeed. i REALLY wanted to like eve, but there were a few things that drove me nuts:

1) mining sucks unless you got a corp mining mission...which are fun, but not common
2) pirates make low sec space very unpleasant for many months until you get stronger
3) time based skills sucks because even if you grind you're doomed to be a nub for a long, long time
4) long, long travel times... i realize it's space, but it doesn't make it fun. and you have to pay attention all the way through if your going through low sec space, or even mid sec space in crappy ships due to rats.

i really, really, reallllyyy wanted to like eve. i wanted to build up a battleship and participate in epic fleet engagements... but never came anywhere near such a goal.

i had several mill skill pts too, but they were poorly allocated so i was useless in all fields.

See you should join a pvp corp. Many times they will have ships at discounts and have logistics to get ships into low sec so that you don't have to worry about being -10. Hell, if your a 0.0 type of guy they should have ships anyway. Lots of the larger alliances recruit. Sure the top alliances are generally invite or have specific recruiting policies but there are thousands of corps, if your smart you can find one to suit your needs.

Honestly, pirates aren't everywhere. In fact it's hard pirating. I mean when you kill a ship you make what, 1/10 maybe less or more of what that ship was worth. Ransoming is actually pretty key in order to survive, otherwise it's hard to make isk to support yourself, even moreso if logistics in the corp is bad.

3) Kinda true to an extent, but that's not to say it can't be fun.

4) rats? cmon if your not afk it's easy. You warp, jump, warp, jump. Rat's take a while to lock and engage.
