I have used the strength shoes years ago and have greatly benefited from them
but I don't want to spend $50+ for them.

Any info or websites with info (for free) on how I can increase my verts?

I've seen info/video packages on increasing hops for $20+...
know where I can get the info for free?

thanks

Buy it and find out.
GREAT advice. That's why I come to ATOT!! /sarcasm

An old friend of mine used to simply go the stairs in his house, and stand on the edge of one with the front half of his feet. His heels were left hanging in the air, if that helps with the visual any. Then, he'd just raise up and down in the spot he was in with just the fronts of his feet 100, maybe 200 times a day. Took him all of 5-10 minutes out of the day, (depending on how many he did), and his calves were sore for a bit afterwards, but he had a hell of a vertical for a guy his height and weight.

This may be the calf raises someone mentioned earlier, but I figured I'd explain the process I knew of just incase.

Why should I tell him how to do it when I paid the $20 for it and he gets it for free.

my roommate suggsted shooting a ball towards a wall then getting the "rebound" by jumping the repeat. If you can keep it up it'll pay off.

If you want free advice for hops, do defensive slides on your toes. And when I say on your toes, I mean like tip-toes. Not the way you'd normally be on your toes.

calf raises, jump rope (yes this DOES help vertical jump), bounds (jump off left foot high and far, land on right, jump off left again--do a set on your left then your right)--I did bounds for high jump in high school

Run hills, lots of hills. Sprint up as fast as you can, jog backwards back down the hill. Go till your legs give out, take a 5 minute break and repeat. I did that 3 or 4 days a week for a summer and went from just able to grab to rim, to being able to do a clean dunk.

When I was in highschool, we used to have to warm up by running circles for basketball.
In 9th grade, I was touching the rim about 4" up my hand. All I did was jump at the hoops as I ran my laps. It was odd to. One day, I couldn't touch the rim. The next day, I was jumping 4" higher.

I was a 9th grader, so I must have been about 5' 6"?

I guess my point is, if you just spend 5-10 minutes a day trying to touch the rim, you will be targetting the muscle group(s) required to touch the rim.

Jump less and masterbate more.

Oh and calf raises helped me back in the day, I would highly suggest doing them.
